I am running MovieFactory 2SE on a P4, 3Ghz, 1G Ram machine and when I try to add a video to a new or existing project I get an error message saying that the program is non responsive. Some history...Captured several video clips from camcorder with no problems. I renamed movie clip files to organize better.Files vary in size from 50MB to 2GB and when I try to add them to a project the computer "bogs" down and video will not open and I will eventually get an error message saying the the program is non responsive and I have to exit the program. If I open each individual file by double clicking on it in the stored directory I can create a new project but if I try to add more video to that project than I get the same problem. I have tried unistalling and reinstalling the software with no luck and I have added the available patches. Any help would be extremely appreciated.
On a side note, if I can only create 1 file projects by opening each individual file outside of the program is there anyway I can combine several projects to make a bigger project?
Hope I make sense, but I am pretty new to this stuff and am getting very frustrated!!!!!
Thanks

You're not alone...Unresponsive Program when adding files.
While I don't have a resolution, I have a similar problem so you are not alone. Win XP Pro, Athlon XP 2100+, 512M RAM, 160Gig HDD. When I select Create Video DVD then select DVD-Video or DVD+VR and try to add a video the program always becomes unresponsive and I have to kill the process. Many times it will become unresponsive before trying to add the file. Since this feature is what I will use the program for almost all the time, it is a useless piece of software for me.
I purchased one of Movie Factory's top competitive products, Cyberlink PowerDirector 4, and it works flawlessly. Wonderful program and I have yet to encounter a bug or have a problem (and no, I don't work for them, I just like products that do what I ask them to).
I love other Ulead products, but Movie Factory 4 is not ready for prime time. I have worked in Software QA, and virtually all software has defects of varying degrees. Existing defects are reviewed prior to each release and a decision is made whether to go gold or not based on the severity of the defects. Perhaps executive pressure caused them to release the product with show-stopping critical defects.
Good luck with this product, however I would suggest giving Cyberlink a try.

cant get Video file to load into project
Ok!
I run a Athalon 1700+, 512MB RAM, 160GB hard drive, and I cannot get Ulead DVD Moviefactory 3 SE to add video to my project file. I purchased the ADSTECH DVD Xpress package and it included DVD Moviefactory as the only program to put my vhs videos to DVD.
I've tried downloading updates for the software, but the updates do not recognize Moviefactory on my system. I've had this software for a week and I'm getting very tired of the program locking up on me when I try to add a video file to my project. The website has no information about this problem, which is disheartening.
I'm giving you guys a couple days to respond before I return the whole thing to Circuit City and buy a different VHS to DVD program/bundle like CyberLink.
Please respond!!!!

what program do you use to capture from the DVD Xpress?
Is it any-sized file, or only large files? Try a small test to see the process work from start to finish.
Make a 5-minute capture using CapWiz (use the DVD Templates)
unplug the DVD Xpress after completing the capture
Import the 5-minute video into a MovieFactory Project
Burn the dvd Folders to your hard drive
Play the dvd using something like PowerDVD (from your hard drive)

still doesnt work
Hi,
I'm using the video capture program that came with DVD Xpress. I've also tried using DVD Moviefactory to capture video and I still get the program locking up. I did try what you suggested with unplugging the ADS capture hardware after I've captured what I'm trying to put to DVD, but I still get lock ups.
I've been doing either 10 or 20 second long captures to see if the length of the capture was an issue, but still locks up. I've also tried importing other video files that I havent captured and I still get lockups.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks for the response.
