I'm having an odd problem that I've never had before in Video Studio. I'm splicing together a couple of avi files and outputting as a 720p .wmv. The final file is about 15 minutes long. At each of the straight cuts (I'm not using transitions) in the output file, two or three seconds are cut off! I've tried outputting in different formats and it still occurs, but if I shorten the entire file to a minute or so, it doesn't happen. I've tried it with proxy on and off. Anyone else had this happen? I've edited in the very same configuration very often previously and haven't had this problem before. Any thoughts?
Andrew

What type of .avi files are they? There are over 800 video formats which use the .avi wrapper extension. Right click on one of them in the VS timeline or library windows, and copy ALL its properties here, please.

File
File format: Microsoft AVI files
Frame rate: 200.000 frames/sec
Data rate: 55.55 kbps
Video
Compression Xvid MPEG-4 Codec
Attributes: 32 bits, 1440x900
Audio
Compression MPEG Layer-3
Attributes 56k Bit/s, 22,050 Hz, Stereo
I just experimented with breaking up the files into smaller chunks. Literally, I just cut the files without changing their lengths and the cut it applied to the problematic transition got shorter. Any thoughts? Is it the frame rate that's the problem?

200 THOUSAND frames per sec ???? - I'm surprised VideoStudio plays them let alone edits them - where do the videos originate from Andrew ?

My guess is it is 200 frames per second. Nonetheless, I would think that is where your problem lies.

Yeah, 200 fps, not 200k! I guess there's no way to reduce that, right? The files are camstudio screencasts of powerpoint presentations. I know, I know, it's hacked together, but, I think because the cursor move around, we couldn't get a high enough resolution without juicing the frame rate.
I seem to have a workaround by simply chopping the files up into smaller bits, but I have no idea why that would fix it.
