Is VS PRO X3 Reliable?

Post by zehavi »

Hello,
I have very bad experiene with that program. It started with problems at the step of importing mpg clips to the library, the edit of those clips including adding of titles and transition effects was O.K. The trubles started again at editing of the audio track after importing audio from a CD. I always got the messages: "encounter an improper argrment" and "The program has encountered an unspecified error and has stopped functioning. Please contact corel thchnical support and send them the dump file for analysis....." I didn' find the dump file in my computor anyway, I think that it is usless to send it.
I found this program very unreliable, actually I can't use it any more. Uninstall and install again didn't help, so I consider to buy other program.
I will be very glad to read the opinion of other users.
Thanks,
Abraham

Millions of people have bought this and use it quite satisfactory.

It could be your pc specs, if you fill them in, in your profile we could coment.
It could be the type of mpeg file you used, mpeg1, mpeg2, mpeg3, mpeg4, what properties to the mpeg version as well.
It could be the music file type, what did you use?
It could be another programme interfering with Videostudio
It could be a mix of any or all of the above.

I have virtually no problems with X3. As Graham has stated, a lot depends on what you are editing, but we have no idea in your case.

Did you install the three currently available program updates? Or are you still using the boxed or shipping version? The updates greatly improved stability.

I also had a lot of problems with vsp x3 at the beginning...couldn't figure out why it was failing on me so often, with different errors...then my
hard drive that I was storing all my video clips failed completely. It turned out, my hard drive was gradually failing and causing all the random
errors. After replacing the failed hard drive, I had no further unusual problems. So the moral of my story is that I had a computer component
failing that cause all the instability...now it works like a normal video editor...still not 100 % perfect, but much better.

Thank you all for your response.
Following are some more details:
My pc specs has been added to my profile (as far as I know).
The type of my mpeg files is mpeg2 as imported form my Hard Disk Drive camcorder.
The music files are imported from Audio CD to the wav type.
My program has been downloaded as an instalation file from corel website, I updated it with patches 2 and 3, so the current version is 13.6.2.69.
From all your answers I understand that there is not any reason to buy other program, the problem is with my computer or within the interface computer-program.
Any idea?

Could be a known MP4 vs. MOV filename issue. Try changing the extension of your file from "filename.mp4" to "filename.mov" and see if things stabilize.
