video editor won't open

i am running on windows xp home sp2. i tried running video editor to the trial version of msp 7 but the process initializes, then it closes. it's the same with 6.5. anyone know the problem? all the other programs in the suit seem to run fine, except for video editor. when i used to run xp pro sp1, it seemed fine too. video editor ran on xp sp1.

Is it stopping while initializing the Audio Filters? If so read this thread;

Otherwise it's very common for a conflict between your display card drivers and DirectX causing an error.

In this case the procedure is to remove your video card drivers, install the latest build of DirectX then install the latest build of your video card drivers.

Now reboot and try again.
