First time I have seen this error. Here is what I have always done to create an HD DVD in MF6+ with HD Power Pack and all updates installed:
1. Create m2v file using Sony Vegas frameserved to Procoder 3 for the render. Usually 1920 x 1080i at a CBR of 29,400
2. Render 2-channel AC3 audio from the Vegas timeline.
3. Mux the two files into an mt2s file using Ts Muxer
4. Import the M2ts file into MF6+ New Project (HD DVD Standard) using "match project settings to file" option. Double check to make sure the project settings match.
5. Check off "Do not convert compliant MPEG file". Uncheck everything else.
6. Create Disc Image only.
This has always worked beautifully.
The problem now is that when I go to create the ISO image file it quickly says "Failure to Burn". I cannot find this error message in either the knowledge Base nor in a Google search for the software.
Any ideas. Will probably try a re-install if not.
Thanks,
John
New MF6+ HD DVD ISO Creation Error: "Failure to Burn"
Re: New MF6+ HD DVD ISO Creation Error: "Failure to Burn"
OK,
I figured it out. The file was just a little too large. I have ignored the "red" color that indicates "too large for disc" before because my burning software (Img Burn) has some headroom when it comes to fitting the .ISO file. However THIS TIME it was just a little too large for MF6+ to allow the creation of the ISO file. I re-rendered at a lower bitrate and it worked fine.
Hope this helps next time an undocumented error message like this one appears
Thanks,
John

Re: New MF6+ HD DVD ISO Creation Error: "Failure to Burn"
I was going to suggest it might have had something to do with the bitrate you were using. I am assuming that the .m2v file you produced with a CBR of 29.4 Mbps was in fact HD mpeg-2 (similar to Adobe Premiere's). But you don't say what bitrate you used to mux it to .m2ts. If it was above 18 Mbps, ticking the 'Do not convert compliant MPEG files' would not have worked anyway, since 18 Mbps is the most MF can handle, and indeed is the international standard for HD DVDs ("hybrid" AVCHD discs). Anything above that MF would regard as incompatible, and so it would also convert it as part of the burning process.
But good that you got it working by adjusting the bitrate downwards. I was at least on a similar track!!

Hi Ken,
Thank you for administering this website. It is always very helpful on the rare occasion that I have trouble with the software.
The bitrate of 29,400 is in fact what I have been using to create HD DVDs with MF6 + for quite some time. It works and the software seems to handle it just fine.
This may help others:
I have found that at that bitrate (29,400 CBR), the maximum m2ts file that fits on a Single Layer DVD is 20 minutes and 40 minutes on a Dual Layer DVD. After that you must lower the bitrate.
Since there is no demand for HD DVDs in the Videography business, I use MF6 + to create HD DVDs for my own personal use since I have two players. The blank DVD-R (SL and DL) are cheaper than the BR blanks I use commercially for High Def discs and they look the same.
MF6+ with the HD pack was definitely a bargain. Thanks for that and thanks for the unexpected continued support.
Regards,
John
