Re: Caution: MPEG-2 videos & VS Pro X3 SP2 patch
I was mistaken about when I submitted the message to Corel. It was Monday, Feb 14, at 8:30 PM Eastern Time. They said they would respond within 48 hours. So far it's been 56 hours.
Anyone know what files the patch changes? I'm thinking it would be prudent to make backup copies before trying the patch.

Re: Caution: MPEG-2 videos & VS Pro X3 SP2 patch
The patch only includes a hotfix, no need to backup your pc!
You have to call Support by telephone, that is what I did. However, you don't need the patch if you don't have problems with your installation of Corel VS & mpeg-2 videos.

Re: Caution: MPEG-2 videos & VS Pro X3 SP2 patch
I tried the hotfix posted earlier in this thread. That solved the problem when previewing MPEG-2 videos. I didn't try rendering a video.
Meanwhile, I'm still waiting for a response from Corel after 72 hours. They said they'd respond with 48 hours. So much for that.
Interesting that a free forum provides better support than the official Corel channel.

Reply to their email and ask for the attachment. I think the response one get has a lot to do with whom are sitting behind the desk at the specific Corel Support area.
The response I got from Corel Support South Africa was very good.

Re: Caution: MPEG-2 videos & VS Pro X3 SP2 patch
The file attachment is on the support web page for my problem. So perhaps my ISP stripped the file from the email because it was an exe file. Or maybe they didn't email the attachment and I was expected to find it on the web site.
Regardless, I did a binary compare and verified that the file is identical to the one posted earlier in this thread.

Then you can download the hotfix posted earlier on the thread..
After all, I posted the hotfix

Re: Caution: MPEG-2 videos & VS Pro X3 SP2 patch
I tried the patch and it didn't fix my audio sync/stutter issue. I also noticed the audio/sync stutter happens about every 2 minutes on my machine.
Can confirm it only affects .mpg files. Doesn't seem to affect the WMV or MP4 files I created.
Very frustrating.

I have empathy with your frustration. Do you experience it with playback while in advance editing mode or do you experience it with the rendering result?samurai wrote:I tried the patch and it didn't fix my audio sync/stutter issue.
Playback can be influenced by processor speed, amount ram, etc. I don't see the specs of you pc or the exact specs of you mpeg files.

Re: Caution: MPEG-2 videos & VS Pro X3 SP2 patch
Samurai, maybe you should uninstall & do a clean install of VS X3. Give the SP2 update a pass, set the software to not download any updates. As far as I know, versions up to SP1 does not have the audio/video stuttering problems with mpeg2 videos after rendering. The new X4 also have not any problems there.
Before you reinstall VS X3, make sure that you delete the AudioTMP folder in the Corel VS Pro/13/ in your documents. Clean the registry (hope you know how to do it
, use CCleaner for it ), restart and reinstall then. Hope it helps!

Re: Caution: MPEG-2 videos & VS Pro X3 SP2 patch
Is this patch already included in SP3?
I have X3's SP3 installed.
FWIW: Norton quarantines VSPX3_TSK3329.exe but you can get it back.
Look in the activity (history) log, dig into the alerts and explanations until you get to the 'restore quarantined' button.

Re: Caution: MPEG-2 videos & VS Pro X3 SP2 patch
If you are talking about the hotfix patch included earlier in this thread, then no, it is not included in SP3. It is a stand-alone patch sent only to users who specifically ask Corel support for it!

Re: Caution: MPEG-2 videos & VS Pro X3 SP2 patch
There is an SP3, though when you see it on the download page, it is labelled SP2. But it is a separate patch.
