Looking for ideas of how to create custom shapes that look like large paint brush strokes.
I have attached a file that gives an example. I've experimented with a variety of brush tips on erasers and paintbrushes but I haven't found anything I really like.
Any ideas on how to reproduce shapes similar to these? These shapes will be used on a white-filled layer to allow a small portion of the background to show through.
Thanks!
Kevin

The Oil Brush tool? Use the mixer palette and place a black dot on it. Use the palette knife to create an irregular degree of transparent and opaque lines. Go to the original eye dropper and increase the sample size go back to the mixer palette and select the eyedropper from there. Click on the black and transparent areas. You'll see the pattern on the materials palette. Now draw with the oil brush and take care to make the stroke look the way you want by continuing to draw and push the paint around (don't release the mouse button as it will reload the head) and see if you can't design the look that way.
What's really nice about this is the texture effect of the art media layer which is added to the brush strokes. After you're done you can convert it to a regular raster layer. Switch the blend mode to screen and the black will disappear.
Of course this could be a ridiculous method that will never work. Hard to say. That's all I've got. In most cases without a pen-tablet you'll just have to make the individual portions of the stroke shape yourself. You could try out the different brush variance options to give the stroke some changes in direction and size as you draw.

Hello kchildress,
Not sure if you are using correct program for this. But you may want to try Painter 11, you can download the trial at http://www.corel.com/trial. You can also visit http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ ... 1637939832 for information about the different features of Painter, of course it is best that you have a pen-tablet for this program.
