VS X3 Crashes for new user

Post by waterbound »

Hi, I just got this software. First, it took several days just to get it to install. It finally installed after a sys restore and I was off and running. I really liked the package, especially Express. I played with it for a day, liking it more and more, and then all of a sudden it says " Corel has stopped working". Does this when I trying to do anything. Last thing I did was edit a few old clips and put them back in the folder with the originals (renamed). Could this have caused it? This is getting to be a High Maintanence program. I'm pulling my hair out and am about ready to uninstall it and buy something else. HELP

Unfortunately, we simply do not have enough information to be able to make even a reasonable guess at a solution. You never filled in your computer details when you registered, and we always ask what your set-up is, so correcting that lack of information would be a good start.

But we also have no idea what your video format is for your "old clips", and what kind of camcorder or other device was used to film it. And exactly how did you "put them back in the folder with the originals"?

More to the point, while you seem to like Express, that is an element of the package which we think people should definitely avoid. It is one of Corel's biggest mistakes, apart from the equally poorly named DVD Factory "Pro" 2010 which they originally provided to burn discs.

Believe me, the main editing module is not the "high maintenance" program you seem to think it is. More often than not, new users just need guidance, but we are not mind readers...!

Please have a look at this sticky post at the top of this forum -- it is called, indicatively, PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE POSTING http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?p=41454#p41454 Then get back to us with the information requested and hopefully someone will be able to help.

Hello waterbound.

I'm glad you like the EXPRESS 2010, though there could be a number reasons why you are getting that error message. First you may want to update your VideoStudio Pro X3. You can visit http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ ... 0460544373, to download the updates for your VideoStudio.
