Best quality video for these input formats ?

Post by mangurian »

I have two SONY cameras I use for HD video. I have been shooting at 1920 AVCHD and 1440 H264 The output quality is good if I render at 720x480 using the highest bit rate.
I would like to render at the same resolution as the input. I use my HDMI output to my HD TV for viewing.
The 1920x1080 results are generally BAD. I prefer to use mpg or wmv videos as my TV has no problems playing these.

Here are my questions:
- are the PRO X3 rendering codecs industry standard or are they by any chance inferior or better?
- will 1440 x 1080 give higher quality if I accept the loss in resolution?
- How do I set up the output for the best results?

my cameras have the following HD video resolutions:
AVCHD - 1920 x 1080,
AVCHD - 1440 x 1080,
MPEG-4 - 1440 x 1080,
and

H.264 - 1280 x 720,
H.264 - 1440 x 1080,

Hi

If the options from Share Create Video File-AVCHD or Bluray are unsuitable
Use the Make Movie Templates Manager to create you own templates.

You will then be able to render your project to the various settings to compare quality.

Hello mangurian,

Let me answer your question the way I do it on my end.

are the PRO X3 rendering codecs industry standard or are they by any chance inferior or better?
Yes, these are industry standards

will 1440 x 1080 give higher quality if I accept the loss in resolution?
how do I set up the output for the best results?

If you have an HD TV and want to play the video via HDMi, I would suggest that you create the video file using any of the following open from the CREATE VIDEO FILE > Blu-ray, or AVCHD.
