Burning a slideshow in HD on aDVD

Post by David Bottel »

Hello,
I have Moviefactory 6 plus with HD power pack installed which I use to create slideshows on blu-ray.
I have read somewhere that it is possible to burn HD content to a standard 4.7GB DVD. Is it possible to create a slideshow this way in MF6+ and if so how.

The format has to be AVCHD. I am not sure if MF 6 has the facility to produce AVCHD hybrid discs (which is what you are talking about). Mf 7 certainly does. You choose the type of disc you want to produce as being a DVD, but in MF 7 at least, you are then given the option of 'More Formats', the other one being 'AVCHD high definition'. You then proceed as you would any other disc. But you would need to check in Mf 6 whether there is a similar facility.

Such discs can only be played in a Blu-Ray player rated to play hybrid discs, though most do these days. They cannot be played in a standard definition DVD player.

Ken, Thank you for your reply.
MF6+, as far as I can see only offers one AVCHD format setting, however I will try to create a slideshow using this and I will let you know the result.
Incidently I am told that MF 7, as a stand alone product, is not available in the UK, is this correct.

Mf 7 Pro, when it was first released, only appeared in a few markets, and Europe/the UK and North America were not amongst them, for some strange reason. Australia got it, which is when I bought it. Since then, Corel apparently decided first to scrap it altogether, then resurrected an SE version of it for Video Studio X3. It is certainly available on their website again, but you would need to log on to the UK website yourself to see if you can find it there. I would have thought that you would be able to buy it on the general website, even if the price is quote in US dollars. But the fact is that I just don't know, and where I live, it shows up on the website perhaps because it always has in this part of the world!

In MF 7, by the way, there is only one AVCHD choice as well -- when you choose DVD, you are given two choices -- either burn an SD DVD or an AVCHD disc (which is the hybrid one you are after)...

Hello David Bottel,

To answer your question, Yes you can created HD DVD and burn it to a standard DVD.

Here's how to burn HD content to a standard 4.7GB DVD.
Once you have edited your video file to your liking, right-click on it and choose “Export Video”. Now you can select the HD frame size of your choice to create an HD file that can be played back on your PC.

For the slideshow.
Same as creating HD video:, just make your slideshow in DVD MovieFactory using the HD DVD templates.

I would love to give you a more detailed steps but I don't have DVD Moviefactory 6 plus on my computer.

Abiel,
I am having difficulty in working out your method.
To save time which format should I use when exporting the slideshow.
The listed formats are:

HD 1440
HD 1920
Ulead - WMV HD 1080
Ulead - WMV HD 720
Fast export HD DVD compliant video

If you are wanting to produce a hybrid HD DVD, then the one and only format it will accept is AVCHD.
