Hi
A friend has just bought a Sony nx5 Camera
Can I use VSx3 to edit the footage? I am not sure what type of files it supports?
Any advice would be appreciated on importing files onto pc also?
Thanks

Hi
Video Studio supports a variety of formats
I don’t own the Sony nx5 and like you don’t know what files it uses.
But you have the advantage of using the camera.
Your best option is to use the camera to capture video, it may have several options/quality settings, so use them all to test the camera.
Then try importing to Video Studio.
If you can get them as far as the timelines, right click and select properties.
What are they?

Lovely camcorder.
It records to either a memory stick or an internal solid state drive.
It will be an AVCHD file.
You'd drag and drop he file to your pc as any other file from an external drive.
I'm not sure if Sony have used a standard codec or not to produce the file, so looking on their web site would be best. I should imagine X3 will work with it.

I think that the question should be, If Corel uses the standard AVCHD codec..I'm not sure if Sony have used a standard codec or not to produce the file
VS X3 is capable of editing AVCHD, so long as your PC is up to the task. Could you please complete your system information found on the Profile tab of your User Control Panel? Corel may be lagging on some of the more current, faster bitrates allowed.

Re: Sony nx5
Unfortunately Sony and Panasonic can't even agree on a single standard...

But the good news is that the NX5 does NOT use 1920 x 1080p at 50/PAL or 60/NTSC *full* frames per second, but just the ordinary interleaved AVCHD which we know that X3 can handle. However, its maximum bitrate setting is the new international AVCHD standard of 24 Mbps. X3 can handle that, but X2 cannot.

Hello allanforbes,
Checking the specs of Sony NEX 5, it appears that video format that it supports are AVCHD, MP4 which are bot supported by VideoStudio Pro X3. To know all the file format the VS X3 supports, you can visit: http://corel.custhelp.com/app/answers/d ... _id/764350
