open template crash

Post by dalcassian »

When I go to print layout then click on open template, PSPPROX3 simply shuts down. The program simply stops and closes itself. Is there a flaw in PSPPROX3?

Is there a flaw in PSPX3? Yes, many. But I haven't heard of one specifically for templates. My templates open just fine. I suppose if it didn't have access to the templates (because it's not a regular Open dialog) or the templates were deleted you might experience this problem. But that's pulling something out of thin-air there. I have no proof that any sort of problem would occur from that.

I have seen this in X2 and X3, but I don't recall it occurring in XI or earlier versions of PSP. This may not be exact, but it seems the conditions to cause the problem are something like: (1) have an open .pspimage file, (2) select Print Layout, (3) select Open Template, and (4) watch PSP crash. It doesn't always happen, though.

What usually is effective as a workaround is to first select the image to be printed from the Images box on the left, even if it is the only image open. Then select Print Layout, and you should be able to choose a print layout from the displayed dialog. After you've done it once, it appears to prevent the problem for subsequent printing in the same session.

Thank you for your help. This problem was recurring on an off for a while and then suddenly was constant. I reloaded PSPProX3 and reinstalled all the patches on the website. So far, so good, no problems. Let's see if it stays that way. Again, thank you for your time and help and I hope I can someday return the favor.

Hello dalcassian,

So far this is not happening on my personal computer. You may want to reset your workspace, since usually resolve alot of issue on PSP X3. First close the program then press and hold-down the SHIFT key then open PSP X3, when you received the message "DO YOU WANT TO RESTORE PAINTSHOP PRO TO ITS DEFAULT STATE?" click on OK. I posted a screen shot of the message for reference.
