No audio in VS9

I've got a problem with VS9. Sometimes the audio works, sometimes it only works while viewing the project using the 'audio view'

For example, if I play the project or clip in a project using the 'storyboard view' or 'timeline view' it won't play the audio (well, it works sometimes, usually not) but if I switch to 'audio view' it doesn't play the audio.

Also, sometimes, if I go from 'audio view' to 'storyboard view' it will start to play the audio, sometimes it won't.

Also, if I am on a clip in 'storyboard view' and click the attribute tab, it will not play the audio -- if it happens to even play the audio in 'storyboard view' anyway...

What's going on here? This never happened with VS8. I purchased the upgrade from 8 to 9.
