Newbie - Quick question re:audio, etc.

Post by admcs13 »

Hello, a newbie here to the video editing scene. I just purchesed the Creative Audigy 2.0 Video Editor (on board video processing) and it come with Ulead VideoStudio 8 SE and Ulead DVD Movie Factor 3 SE. I have a few question I hope someone would be able to help me with.

1  First off, what are the main differences between these two and advantages/disadvantages to either or?

2  Second, which is better for capturing video (will from S Video camera, and VCR composite)

3  Also, I've made one sucsessful video, however I just made one where I had a bunch of movie segments, and I used MF to combine all the clips (since it was a TV program). However as I watched it on my DVD players (various ones), they all had the same results: the audio lagged behind. What could have caused this?

4  What does the "normalize audio" checkbox do in MF before buring to DVD?

5  The steps befor burning (the video mixing etc.), if I didn't use this program after caputre, how could I put the MPEG file onto a DVD and have it play like a DVD? Any reason to have MF do it, I don't know what those extra steps are.

6  Can any one provide some advice on the best ways to break up my video into segmets once I transfer from my cam corder? It gets tedious stopping the capture midway, and I was a little confused about the different features of Chapters, etc. I would like it to be broken up, but I don't want it to go back to the main menu of the DVD

I know there are a lot of questions here, but I hope someone can help in any way possible. I would love to be proficient enough to help others here one day once I'm on my way :)

Thanks again,
Christian

1. well I only used video studio briefly, but its more featured for video editing and such, i thought.

2. i would use video studio, but in reality DVD MF could do it as well.

3. dropped frames maybe?

4. that makes sure all the clips have the same audio level so you dont have one clip which is very loud and then another which is very quiet

I personally capture using other software, making sure I capture in a DVD compliant format. Then I would edit out any bits i needed to, such as adverts, then i would import the clip into DVD mf to do the menus and burning.

Ive also had no problem capturing a huge 3gb file and then just importing the whole mpeg2 clip into DVD mf, so i dont bother with lots of little clips if i can avoid it.
