authoring in vsx3
I recently installed vsx3 as an upgrade from vs10+. What an absolute nightmare its been trying to get thru to burn my project to a disc. In vs10 when you wanted to burn a disc it was really easy, picked your own template chose music for menus or removed it if it wasnt needed, easily created chapters then previewed what you had done then burnt it. Simple. So why have they used dvdf pro, why cant i add more music to use on chapters or remove it and have no music, its driving me mad. I tried to open the saved project in vs 10 but it says "file format not supported" yet its the same software isnt it? Can anyone please help me im at my wits end

Re: authoring in vsx3
The only way you can open the project in v10 is to save it as a v10 project. File>Save As, and in the type drop-down choose a v10 project.
The alternative (and what I do) is to create a MPEG-2 video file in X3. I then open v10 and go to Share>Create Disc. I then import that MPEG-2 video file that I created in X3 for authoring/burning.

Re: authoring in vsx3
I second Jeff's method if you're going to use VS10 to author your DVD. If you've used any features in VS X3 that are not in VS10, like the PiP, saving the project file will loose those effects. So create a video file in VSX3 to use in VS10's burn module.

Re: authoring in vsx3
The only problem with that is that with X3 (or any prior version) you can only "Save As" a maximum of two prior versions. So with X3, you can save as X2 and VS11, but not, alas, VS10...The only way you can open the project in v10 is to save it as a v10 project. File>Save As, and in the type drop-down choose a v10 project.
But Trevor's suggestion of rendering the X3 project to a video file and then inserting that in VS10 for authoring would certainly work...

Re: authoring in vsx3
Hi
To complete your project in X3 you must Share Create Video File DVD
This creates a Mpeg2 file of the project.
X3 provided DVD Factory Pro 2010 as its authoring program, this program is not fit for purpose, it is rubbish.
In recognition of their mistake Corel have provided DVD Movie Factory 7SE as a replacement.
This is available to X3 owners as a download.
DVD Movie Factory 7SE is very similar to the authoring using VS10.
Open MF7SE and add your Mpeg2 file created earlier.
From one of the preferences boxes make sure that the tv system is the same as your movie, Pal or NTSC.
Otherwise use VS10—start a new project – Share create Disc—Add video file using the Mpeg2 file created from X3.
