Size Problem

Post by smb23 »

We forgot to stop capturing video using VS Pro X2. There is now a file size that is a bit over 337gb. When trying to open that file for editing, an error message pops up [There is no common media type between these pins] (17101:70:2)

I am assuming that this file cannot be opened to remove about 330gb of unwanted data. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forums,

  337 gig?? Holy smokes, what happened..:)

First, what type of video file are we talking about? I'm guessing something along the lines of HDV, or possibly uncompressed AVI. I seriously doubt you will be able to do anything with that file. Simply way too large for any consumer PC to handle. My suggestion is delete it and start from scratch.

Yes it was an uncompressed AVI file. The unfortunate part is, it was Christmas Eve service at church. I have been trying to get some other "player" to access this, and I would then be able to capture that, however, nothing seems to be able to handle a file that large.

Thanks for the help!

Do a google search for software to break an un-compressed avi file; I'd bet you find a freeware to do it. Examples to search: software to split avi into small files, split of avi into 2gb files, etc... Al

An update.

I downloaded and tried several AVI splitters. The only one that worked was FOXTAB AVI Converter v 3.02.

I was able to recover the ~ 1.5 hours of actual video!

Thanks for the suggestions.
