what did I do?

Post by JS1 »

I was trying to expand the view of a photo and somehow destroyed it. I mean the file is fine (it opens fine in MS Paint, which is the only kind of software I can use apparently  ).

When I open it in Paintshop, I get this nonsense:

http://i1139.photobucket.com/albums/n54 ... corel2.jpg

I exited the program and opened it again and got the same result. Where's the photo? (it's called IMG_1549 just like it says in the window title) And the toolbar that was on the left side disappeared, too (the one with an "A" button for text, etc.)

Thanks!

There is nothing wrong with the image, don't worry. It's a workspace issue. In other words, how the program itself looks is the problem.

What has happened is your materials palette has been dragged over everything else.

How exactly did you try to expand the view?

You should be able to drag the edges of the palette to resize it again. Shrink it down to its proper level. If you can't seem to do that might I suggest a quick and dirty method to reset the whole interface back to its original look.

You can do this in one of two ways. With the program closed select the Paint Shop Pro Icon but do not open the program.
You can then Shift+Double Click on the program Icon. It should pop up with a dialog asking if you want to reset everything. Just say yes.

If I have those instructions wrong, which I don't think I do, you can also do the same thing from the File menu.

Go to your menu and select File->Preferences->Reset Preferences. Check the Workspace option and hit Okay. It should restore the proper sizes and location of all of the palettes and toolbars.

You will have to reveal the materials palette again but you know how to do that.

I gave up and uninstalled the software. Sorry.

Hello JS1,

Yes, Levi is correct. Just reset your workspace to factory settings and you should be all set.
