I recently bought this product and it says 64 bit but apparently it is NOT. It is just "compatible" with 64 bit. It installs to my x86 directory! I want the fastest rendering possible. The GPU rendering was a big selling point. Do they have a 64bit patch or are they working on one?
Thanks

No, there is no patch and I doubt they are working on one. I don't know if they might include it in the next version.

Hello mleejr,
VS X3 is not a native 64-bit application, since the program was created on a 32-bit environment. Also the time it takes to render a video will depend on the specs on your computer and faster your processor. So you may want to check on the specs of your computer.

All 64-bit would really allow you to do is utilize more than 2gb of ram for the application. This may be important for larger projects and the devs may want to think about adding this into the next version if possible. It shouldn't be too hard to build a 32-bit and 64-bit version of the program.

I'm a developer and it shouldn't be, you are right. Change some compiler parameters and recompile. Whola. You may have to adjust some of the internal variables such as sizeOf and such, but you can recompile and test.libbya wrote:All 64-bit would really allow you to do is utilize more than 2gb of ram for the application. Re: VideoStudio pro x3 is NOT 64 bit!?
I recently came across the following instructions, from a user's reponse in a Corel VS x3 review. Is this a valid way to get it to use more than 2GB?
quote"
This program worked great for me with my standard definition video files. But when I got a high def AVCHD camcorder, I initially had tons of crashes when working with those high def AVCHD files. I found a fix that worked for me though, so now it also works fine with editing high def AVCHD files for me.
Here is what I found: the program has a setting set to limit the program's RAM/memory use to 2 gigabytes. But when I changed the setting to allow it to use over 2 gigabytes of RAM/memory, it handled my high def AVCHD files fine.
Here are the steps to make that change:
(1) Find, download, and install the freeware "CFF Explorer" program.
(2) Temporarily move the vstudio.exe program file to your desktop, or other folder where you have rights to make changes. On my computer, the path for the vstudio.exe program file is:
ProgramFiles (x86) --> Corel --> Corel Video Studio Pro X3 folder .
(3) You may want to make a duplicate/backup copy of the vstudio.exe program file, in case this doesn't work for you.
(4) Start CFF Explorer.
(5) With CFF Explorer, open the vstudio.exe program file.
(6) In the left pane, click on, and highlight "File Header" underneath "Nt Headers"
(7) Then, on the right side of the "Characteristics" line, click on "Click here."
(8) In the Characteristics window that comes up, check the box for the "App can handle > 2gb adressset."
(9) Click on "OK" to save that change and close the "Characteristics" window.
(10) Then choose File --> Save to save that change to your vstudio.exe program.
(11) Then move the edited vstudio.exe file back to it's original folder. Again, on my computer that was in the:
ProgramFiles (x86) --> Corel --> Corel Video Studio Pro X3 folder .
(12) You are now done, and can try starting VideoStudio Pro, and see if it handles your AVCHD files fine now." end quote
