Right place to ask about VideoStudio 11 SE?

Post by warmbells »

Hi,

I don't know if I am in the right place to ask about this problem.

I have just purchased a VideoMate C100 capture card whic came bundles with VideoStudio 11 SE and DVD MovieFActory 5. I am having a problem in that when I run VideoStudio it does not find the capture card, any ideas as to what the problem could be?

I am running a shop built PC running Windows XP home Pentium P4 2.4Ghz, 2Gb ram and a total of 4 HD's

Tia,

Gerald

Hi Gerald

Welcome to the forums

Did you install all capture card software, drivers etc. :?:

Other than the Ulead/Corel products.

When using Video Studio, select the top Capture Tab, then hit Capture Video (centre of screen) to open another panel.
View the source box.................

I assume you installed the drivers?

We can try, but everybody has different capture & different cameras.

Maybe you can get some help from the hardware manufacturer. (comprousa.com). Video capture hardware & software have to be designed to work together.* The driver might have been designed to work with Video Studio, or this particular SE version may have been tweaked to work with your hardware.

If the hardware doesn't work with the supplied software, I'd return it!

Here are a couple of websites with information about video capture. Maybe they can help with your capture card, or help with other hardware recommendations:
DigitalFAQ.com
VideoHelp.com

* Most capture devices don't seem to work with Video Studio. :( In general, you'd use the software supplied by the hardware manufacturer for video capture, and then you can use the video editing software of your choice (i.e. Video Studio) and the DVD authoring software of your choice (i.e. Movie Factory).

That's why Trevor originally asked you if you had installed all the software on your Installation disc for the capture device. Often they contain the necessary drivers for the capture program (here VS11 SE?) to see the capture device. Or sometimes they might contain a separate small capture program.

Hi,

Yes, installed everything on the three supplied discs. Strangely I have been trying all day to see if it it would work then about 30 minutes ago tried again and it saw the card. I'm going to not try again till later tomorrow and see if it still sees the card. Thanks for your help.
