Hi;
I have been using Ulead Photo Express 4.0SE for years, and have
successfully used it on 3 different machines so far without a
problem. It successfully worked on an AMD 586 machine running
WIN95, a Pentium 4 machine running WIN Millenium, and my current
desktop - an Intel Core2 Duo running WIN XP.
During the install process (for my laptop), a warning pops up saying that
this (Ulead) has not been tested to operate on Win XP and that continuing
the install could wreak havoc on my system ("....cause system instability
which could grow worse leading to catastrofic failure....") or words to
that extent, and that Windows recommends that I cancel the Install
procedure.
Should I let it complete the install, making the system changes it
appearently wants to make, or is that a definite mistake? I can't
remember what I did to install the thing on my desktop earlier (which
made it work), so I'm in a bind here.
Does anyone else have any experience in this matter and could they advise?
Has anyone said "Yes" and let the installer run and gotten good results?
I have a Dell Latitude D630 with Intel Core2 Duo processor, running Windows
XP Pro edition. My desktop was a Dell 220 Vostro, running Core2 Duo with
Win XP Home ed. 2002 svc pk3. Ulead ended up running on the Vostro desktop,
and I don't remember doing anything special with that one....
P.S.; after reading the faq, I cannot find any such folder -
{1B5946C0-491A-11D4-ADD6-0010B53EC668} in C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation
Information\
or
{1B5946C0-491A-11D4-ADD6-0010B53EC668} in
KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\
Thanks, Dave

Welcome to the forums,
Right-click on the install file, select properties>Compatibility. Then the top section, Compatibility Mode, check the box, and from the drop down menu select as Windows 95. Once the program is installed, then do the same for the *.exe file that launches the program.

Re: Trying to install Ulead PE4.0 onto my Dell Win XP laptop
Thanks Ron, but no dice.
This time I selected Win 95 compatability as stated, but when it ran
got the following messagaes;
Newer version of DCOM95 or DCOM98 has been installed.
To override you must uninstall the current version first.
I clicked the box [OK], then got the message;
Error loading setupx.dll
the specified module doesn't exist
I don't know what that means or what to do with it, so I just clicked the
[OK] box again.
when it finished running, the program still wouldn't work.
Where do I go from here?....
Thanks, Dave
