PSP X3 uninall/reinstall

Post by trueblue »

The problem began a couple of days ago when I could not access Help, or from the Learning Centre, Learn more...... the F1 would not open Help either.

I uninstalled PSPX3 before learning that I needed the MSIClean.exe. I did have PSPX2 and used this tool to remove that.

I have reinstalled PSPX2 and it appears to working okay.

I have a downloadable version of PSPX3 from LVS as they get volume licensing. I cannot reinstall my PSPX3.
I re-downloaded all the files again, thinking there maybe a glitch, all to no avail.

I open auto run and choose to install Paintshop Photo Pro X3 - I get the black dialogue window that 'should' show the progress of the installation. For a split second, I get the white bar of the progress, then it disappears and nothing. The only button that can be activated is Cancel. I am then reminded I have chosen to abort the install and try again later. Believe me, I have tried and tried over and over. I just won't install.

I followed the information about uninstall/reinstall and used the CDS2010 Clean-Up ver1.9.exe. The log shows PSPPRo as removed.

I do have PSPX2, Painter Essentials, Painter 11, VidStudio so I have to be careful about removing everyting 'Corel'.

Does anyone here have any ideas what could be happening? I have sent in a request for Tech. help to Corel, but often I'm not terribly happy with their responses. Most often I am told to uninstall and reinstall. Lol, this is what I'm trying to do.

Can I install the TBYB and then add my serial number?

PSPX3 is currently not installed, but I do want to reinstall it. Help, please :)

Hello trueblue,

If you did purchased a volume license of PSP X3, you will need to obtain the LMP which is the License Media Pack, you will need to call our sales number to order it if you do not have the LMP, you can call 1-877-582-6735.

But if you did purchase the download version of PSP X3, you can download the trial then just activate the program using your serial number. But if you still have the original order email, it is best that you download the program from the email.

Hello Abiel

Thanks for your reply. Firstly, I'm in Australia so doubt I will be calling USA. Secondly, the software is issued and registered to LVS Online and the software is provided to me. I'm not sure how LVS receive the software, whether by download or CDs. All I know is, it is a download for me.
No matter which, it is the problem of actually getting the software to install.

I made a new username with full admin rights, all to no avail. I have used cleanup, cleaned the registry and files. As I said in my previous post, I do have a number of Corel products, so deleting a Corel file could prove disasterous to me.

I really need to know what I can do.......in simple terms.

I wish Corel would make their software more user friendly to uninstall. Most people who purchase and use this software are not technicians and would not know the issues involved......like I am having and I'm not PC novice.

Normally you can do that. I'm not sure if it will work with a volume licensed serial number, but I think it should, and would be definitely worth trying. It would be worth downloading the latest TBYB version too. The original version used a painfully slow and flaky decompressor... the new one is much better.

Hi Tim

I heard back from Corel with the following advice:

Let us try to clean boot your PC before running the program.

Go to MSCONFIG (VIsta/7 > type MSCONFIG on Start / XP > type MSCONFIG on Run).

Go to the Services tab, then click on "Hide all MS services" Uncheck all the remaining items on the list (take note of it). DO NOT uncheck Protexis Licensing V2.

Next Go to the Start-up tab, then Uncheck all the remaining items on the list (take note of it). Save the changes then restart your computer.

Please do not hesitate to contact us for any further questions.

I did exactly as suggested all to no avail. I don't understand why there are so many different ideas of installing/reisntalling this software and the use of another program to uninstall.

I finally bit the bullet today and did a Recovery of my C drive that I had made 4 days ago. Thankfully I now have my PSPX3 back working correctly, except I have no HELP files to access from Help, which started all the trouble in the first place.

My CorelDrawX5 opens, but just hangs :( Another story and another day. Painter is working okay too, which is very important to me.

The only thing I can think of is, totally reformat my C drive and start all over again. Trying to uninstall Corel products is an absolute nightmare and they should hang their heads in shame for creating such a monster. For now, I'll just limp along with what I have, but someone needs to shout very loudly in Corel's ears for them to program more effectively. Okay, my whinge is over.

You are, after all, not just an ordinary user, but a Moderator of this forum. I would have thought this would have given you special status to yell quite effectively!
