Problems exporting to FLV using VideoStudio X2

Post by cjd1888 »

hi there,

I'm recently installed X2 and am a fairly new user.

I have a created a video using my Sony XE105 handycam in HD and edited it successfully using X2.

I can then export it to WMV format and view the file in superb quality in windows media player. However, when I try to export into FLV format, I get the message about converting and it sits at 0%. I have left it for over a half hour without any movement before deeming it as having "hung" and trying again.

can anyone offer any suggestions as I'd really like to export movies in FLV format rather than WMV?

Thanks
Trevor Andrew

Hi

Welcome to the forums

Can you give some details of your original video files properties.
Right click a clip and select properties, what are they?

You seem to indicate HD, if you convert to FLV using the standard template it may end up as 4:3.
Best to use the Custom option or Make Movie Template Manager to create your own template.

Your PC specification does not show the full details, a slower/older pc will have problems editing HD.
If editing HD make sure Smart Proxy is enabled

About an hour or so ago, I had a reply almost completed, but wanted to check and confirm some things first. This brought to my attention a problem I was suddenly having with VSX2 on my Vista machine. Anyway long story short, I had at some time, set the compatibility mode to WInXP, and this was causing the FLV creation to hang VS X2. Once I dropped the compatibility mode, it produced a FLV file without a problem. I don't know why this would cause it to fall over, but it did.

I ran some tests on my Win XP machine and did not have any problems, so I was thinking at that time it had to be related somehow to Vista.

So are you by chance running Vista, or Win7, and have VS X2 running in compatibility mode?
