Create from AVCHD files miss audio with Smart Render

I tested yesterday creating a video using "same as first video". All inserted files were AVCHD. The created video file, typed mpg, was missing audio no matter what I tried: tried mp4, avi, etc. I then turned off Smart Render in the options that pop-up when creating the video and it worked ( I have Smart Render turned off in the Preferences, BTW). This appears to be a bug or am I doing something wrong? In any case I am happy with this "work-around" Al

I have yet to move into the HD video world, but the forums HD users do recommend disabling Smart Render when using HD

Its not a new thing, In the past if problems have occurred with standard video, we would try without Smart Render.
Unfortunately we don’t know why there is sometimes a problem, the mysteries of video editing.

As it doesn’t happen to all, I doubt if its recognised as a bug.

Moreover, 'Same as first video' does not work properly with HD video (whether HDV or AVCHD). If you get anything, it is usually SD mpeg-2...

Thanks for pointing this prior knowledge that somehow escaped me. I thought I had Smart Render turned off since it is turned off in the Preferences. However, it was ticked on when Creating/Rendering the file. I had to tick it off again in the Options button when creating the file.

So this is a recognized bug? Is there a "List of bugs" and workarounds somewhere?

Not sure you can turn off Smart Render from preferences. Maybe I'm missing something?

You are not getting confused with Smart Proxy, are you?
