VS pro X3 Problems with MPEG 1 editing

Post by BigMac121263 »

I have MPG-files created in Karaoke Video Creator Software wich runperfectly with WMP under win 7
If I import them to Video Studio pro X3 and add an image to the beginning and end and render the mpg new by "Create Video file" and same setting as the
imported MPG has the file is created without any problems. But sometimes the resulting MPG hast problems running in WMP.
The run at startup perfectly but if I skip to nearly end of the files the Audio runs normally but the Video stocks and is viewed in hard steps and closer to the end of the file some of the mpg's stop completely in video or the player stops the complete running.
It seems that something in the muxing goes wrong that the synchnicity is damaged or frames lost.
Any idea?

I like the new video studio very much.
The Intervideo Win DVD creator 3 hadn't such problems.
I downloaded the new version X3 and did all upgrades and I am not that satisfied.

Hi
and welcome to the forums

Mpeg 1 is a very low quality format. I did not think it was used nowadays.........

I did a quick google the software seems able to create Mpeg1, Mpeg 2, Flv, and avi, I think the avi is mpeg4?

I would advise that you don’t use Mpeg 1, try Mpeg 2
If you tell us what tv system you use Pal or Ntsc, (your country location) we may be able to suggest appropriate settings for mpeg2………

Just out of interest, right click a clip in the timeline and select properties, what are they?

I'll just add that WMP does have problems with various files, namely MPEG. I've had problems with it wanting to play MPEG-2 files. I currently use either VLC Media Player or Media Player Classic Home Cinema. They will play video files, where WMP would not.

The properties of the video in the timeleine are:

Fielformat PAL VCD
Video: MPEG-1 Video
24Bit 352x288 4:3
25 frames /s
1150kbps

Audio:
MPEG Audiolevel 2
32000Hz 16bit Stereo
level 2
Bitrate: 224 kbps

is for standard VCD which normally is enough for Karaokes

As I told before rerenderingwith VS X3 the MPEg runs fine but after the new created one has the explained probs.
VS rerenders this with the settings as the base file.
Something gos wrong while rerendering.

it is also amazing that if I render them to WMV format then reimport them and render them new to MPEG1 the result is OK

I tried now to create with the Karaoke proggi MPEG-2 files and then imported and rerendered them in VS. That worked w/o any problem.
Basically I used the MPEG-1 format because of the fle size. But as I saw now the size is nearly the same as MPEG-1.
So I will use MPEG-2 in future. But it is a miracle why the rerendering damages the MPEG-1 file.

I think the basic message Trevor was conveying was that you should not be using mpeg-1 at all. It is just such an old and low quality format that using it on your particular computer is a bit like using rags as a seat cover on a Rolls Royce!! Moreover, going from low quality mpeg-1 to a highly compressed format like WMV and then back to mpeg-1 again adds two levels of quality loss.

So definitely stick with mpeg-2...
