WinDVD 10 Pro / Black screen / Freeze

Post by Risotto »

Hi,

I just purchase and install WinDVD 10 Pro on my PC and wanted to see a Bluray-Movie "Knight and Day", but after I put my Bluray in the drive, the whole screen goes black, I have no more interaction possibility (keyboard, mouse ESC: no effect!), the movie is of course no playing (no movie, no sound) and it stays like this until a reset my PC: not exactly what I was expecting.

Does anybody have already got this problem - and may be already now the solution.

Here some data:
WinDVD 10 Pro 10.0.5.753
Notebook: ACER ASPIRE 7745G (i5 M 460 2.54GHz
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5850
Win7 Ultimate english

I have unfortunately no other experiences with other Bluray because I have no other disc.

Cheers,
Risotto

Hello Risotto,

Updating your DirectX usually fix the problem. You may also want to check if there are more than one display driver under Display when you check your DEVICE MANAGER.

You may also want to download or update your WINDVD by downloading the updates from here: http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ ... 5746622377

Your video card requires a minimum 500W PSU:

Does your PSU meet or exceed the required minimum? I suspect a PSU issue. Can you swap the PSU with a 'known good' 600-750W PSU? If that resolves the glitch, you have isolated the problem.

Also, be sure the Blu-ray driver Region Code is compatible with the optical disc. To check this, open the Device Manager > DVD/CD-ROM drives > Properties > DVD Region. Be aware that the optical drive will only accept a limited number of changes to the designated Region. If there is no region designated, you may need to do so to play Blu-ray media.

Check for any firmware updates to your Blu-ray drive.
