Titles Editing

Post by yellowrock21 »

I will try and explain my gripes with Pro X2. Why is it i cannot seem to edit the time length of how long or how fast a Title stays on the screen for. The problem is if you stretch the title in the edit box you make the animation slower, so if using Fade it takes ages to fade in but as soon as the title is clear on the screen it is gone? Can anyone exlplain to me how you make the titles stay for as long as you wish without say changing the timing of animation.
Also i find the problem with these applications is that as soon as you have got your head around the first application they have a new one as with now Pro X3. I was invited to get this at a lower price but only because ProX4 is around the corner. How much better is Pro x3 to pro x2 what extra features has it got.
Thanks in advance

Have you gone into the Animation Tab (to the right of the Edit tab) and clicked on the TT icon? See Image below. That allows you to vary the time that the wording of your titles stays on screen in the various animatons that are possible. Play around with it, but it works!

As for your second question, in some ways, X2 is far superior to X3, and that is in the burning department. Corel made a huge mistake in X3 by getting rid of the tried and true burning module of X2 and prior versions, and substituting it with an incredibly feeble program called, of all things, DVD Factory 2010 "Pro"! Anything less Pro is hard to imagine!  After continuous user outcry, they made available a cut-down version of Movie Factory 7 Pro - with an SE label instead of the 'Pro' - which uses the same burning module you are familiar with in X2. That is the major problem with X3, though MF 7 SE went a long way to rectifying it. X3 has a few extra little bells and whistles more than X2, but more on the fiddly side than anything else. For me its one great advantage is that it has for the first time included a Picture-in-Picture (PnP) filter, which made the upgrade worthwhile, despite the mess over the burning module.

However, unless you have any pressing need to use the PnP filter, and unless you are planning on moving to Windows 7 in the near future (X2 is not fully compatible), then I would stick with X2 for the moment, then make another judgment when X4 finally appears.

Hi

The speed of the animation is related to the length of the title.
Click the title clip in the timeline, either drag the yellow trim bars to extend the duration or adjust the digital clock (defaults to 3) , try 12 seconds.
The more text/characters you have the longer the title needs to be……..

With the clip selected on the timeline
1 / click the preview screen to select the text, Double click to edit text.
2 / select Apply Animation as Kens image
3 / select Type as Fade
4 / select the two TT’s
5 / choose Crossfade

Ok so you have set Cross Fade, the title clip is selected in the timeline.
Notice the bar below the preview.
This shows the fade-In (left grey section)
Pause Duration as the (central blue section)
Fade – Out as the right section

By default these take up approx 33%
So your 12 seconds will fade in for 4 seconds, fully in view for 4 seconds and fade out for 4 seconds.
Adjust these timings by dragging the black “pause Duration” handles.

To give you some idea of what can be done explore the sample titles animation and text settings. Drag one to the timeline and change the text.
