How do I list settings?

Post by alanball »

Hi all, I was just looking through the sample files with VS8 and ran the skateboard sample video. I was impressed with some of the effects and was wondering is there any way to list what the settings are for titles, filters, transitions etc,. that have been used.

thanks

Thanks Thoff,

so there's no way to check what your settings were, say a previous filter setting you have used in a project, I must start making notes, my memory is'nt what it used to be!!

Well no its not quite that bad with your own work because as long as you have the .vsp file as well as your videos you can import the .vsp file again and see all the effects etc. in your timeline - it is only after you have rendered your video into a single video file that the information becomes embedded and therefore 'lost'

Almost all graphic and video programs are alike in this respect now days.

While creating your masterpiece, all of what you do is recorded in the Undo, History, Actions, and Task features. However once you save your masterpiece all of these features are either merged into your file, or discarded, never to be recovered.

It is true that when you save your masterpiece in the Host's native file format you may retain the ability to modify Objects that were saved with your masterpiece, but not the settings and effects, except object placement, the rest are merged.

However, after all of the above mentioned, there is sometimes one way to Record your settings and effects. Should a program have the Task feature, you can begin recording a new Task at the same time you are creating your masterpiece. When done stop recording the Task and save the new Task to a file. Later you will have a record of the settings and effects you used while creating your masterpiece, and will be able to apply any part of the Task to a new masterpiece.

At the present time, Ulead has a few products with the record a Task feature, but VS is not one of them. Protest loud enough and perhaps Ulead will add the feature to the next Upgrade. It would be a valuable tool for us Oldies, otherwise lots of paper and pencil in hand.

I wonder if you could save a Project before rendering your video, how much usability would remain? Just food for thought.

Thanks for your inputs Keenart & Briancee,

Until I got into video editing and onto this Web Board, I never realised what a wide subject it is, and there was so much to learn and enjoy. Also the deeper I get into Video Studio the more I realise what a great program it is for the price.

Thanks guy's
