Problems with PSP X3 and Windows Movie Maker

Post by andyno »

Since I installed PSP X3 there is a problem with windows movie maker. As soon as I try to edit a mp4 movie, the installation wizard of PSP X3 ist starting and asks me for the CD for installing PSP. I even have let the wizard perform this action but I'm always getting an error message at the end.
Windows movie maker behaves totally normal when I cancel the start of the PSP installation wizard, but it is so annoying and time-consuming that I always have to cancel the PSP installation process.
Any ideas how to solve this problem?

Hello andyno,

You may need to check the file association of MP4 and make sure PSP X3 is not associated with the MP4 that you are editing on Windows DVD maker.

Check this Microsoft page for File association: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307859

MP4 files and AVI files are assiciated to 1. QuickTimePlayer and 2. to Media PLayer Classic. I even changed the file association with no improvement. PSP X3 installation wizard is still trying to install.
In the window wher you can chaneg the file association Crel Instant Viewer and Corel PhotoPro are suggested for association. But I have checked three times and the file association is OK. When I doubleclick a video file it opens with the correct application.
