Red line appeared in Timeline...

Post by Ynot »

Evening all.
Returning to Video Studio 10 after a period of disuse. All went fairly well until I managed to do something which resulted in a red line appearing in the timeline as per the pic below...
Image
As a result, I can't view any part of the (as yet rather short) compiled video as hitting 'play' takes me straight to that red lined section (which is blank)...
I am sure that this will be a simple fix, but for the life of me I can't find anything in the help section or here that points me at what this is - which probably means I'm not searching for the right term, I guess.

Any hints?

This is a common problem that could have been found with a Search. You have set a Preview Range by setting a mark in or out point while in project mode instead of clip mode. Under the Preview Window you will see triangular trim handles. Drag one all the way to the left and the other all the way to the right and that should correct the problem.

That line appears in Project view when you have trimmed a video by pulling the time markers below the preview screen inwards to shorten a longer video. To get rid of the line, you just pull the trim markers back to either end of the scrubbing line. See the photo below.

Hi

However the red line (Project Playback Range) can have its uses.
You can render the selected red line to a video file rather than rendering the full project, or maybe create a sound clip.
