VS PROX3 Vs. Upgrade.

Post by brucefl »

hi,
I had received my new VSX3 last wk and just opened it. On previous boxed versions it always said upgrade and
noticed this one did not. I am assuming they just sent me the full version rather than the upgrade (since their
seems no place on the box, envelope or disc) because I can not find the upgrade sticker.

I do have X2 on this machine. Should there be any problems with the 2 versions?

Thanks Bruce

The only difference of which I am aware is that with the upgrade version, the installation procedure asks for the serial number of a previous version. The retail version does not. Otherwise, they are identical. In other words, the upgrade version is in fact a full version, and doesn't just overwrite your X2 installation. Moreover, X3 will happily co-exist on the same computer as X2 -- no need to uninstall the latter. Some of its shared files might be overwritten by X3's, but it will still work fine.

Hello brucefl,

Feature wise there is no difference between the full version and upgrade version of any Corel software. The upgrade is a discount that Corel provide for users of previous versions. That is why Ken mention that in order for you to get the upgrade you need to have a legal and registered copy of any previous version of VideoStudio.

To be eligible for the upgrade price, you must have any of the following version of VideoStudio.
* VideoStudio® 10 or higher (Standard or Pro)
* Corel® VideoStudio® Express 2010
* Corel® Digital Studio™ 2010
