I'm a YouTube partner... but I do very little editing on my videos (mostly just editing out mistakes; nothing remotely fancy).
However, I started doing some gameplay videos for an online video game that I am a partial owner of. And I'm doing a bit more editing, yet am running into issues.
I'd like to be able to quickly do stuff like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQLSpfJn8i4 (more like 2-3 minutes worth of editing, instead of 15) (This is my video).
So a few questions...
1. is there a way to get my 2 hands to crop and display as they are in the above video without having to overlay and crop the same video onto 2 different tracks (1 for each hand)?
2. if there is not a way... is there a way to get 2 overlay tracks to appear in Audio View? this was most annoying, as I wasn't able to sync up both of my hands to the background video/audio at the same time (this caused most of the trouble).
3. is there any way to flip/mirror my hands (if you look closely, when I hit the left arrow key, it's the finger all the way on the right that hits it)? google tells me i probably can do it if i install fxbench, but i'm really a novice at all this and would like to keep things as simple as possible. and this seems like something that should be really simple/easy to do... just 1 checkbox or something.
Thanks very much for any and all assistance.

Try using a mask image, a PNG with two transparant square holes. add to first Overlay track.
2. if there is not a way... is there a way to get 2 overlay tracks to appear in Audio View? this was most annoying, as I wasn't able to sync up both of my hands to the background video/audio at the same time (this caused most of the trouble).
Right click the timeline and select "track manager"--add more overlay tracks

I had to view the video a few times to understand what you meant.
FX Bench as far as I know does have a Flip or Mirror filter that may do what you want.
Providing it works with X2
Once installed should show in the Filter section of VS library.
Once you apply FX Bench you “customise” to select different effects.
I would apply this filter to the main video and render to a new video file before adding the PNG image
Thanks very much for any and all assistance.

Re: Crop/Sync Questions on X2
Trevor, thanks for the responses...
The mask is just going to be too much of an issue, as the holes will need to be moved every time i do something...
However, I could ignore that route completely if I could get #2 to work. Yes, right clicking and adding more tracks in track manager works... for timeline view. But I want it to work in audio view, and it doesn't. In timeline view, i have 2 overlay tracks (which is how I got the 2 hands to show up in the first place). But when I switch to audio view, it only displays 1 overlay view, and the 2nd one just disappears. This makes absolutely no sense, and is what's really causing me issues... since I need to sync the 2 overlay tracks + the base video track to the frame (otherwise the music and finger taps will be out of sync). I've been using the audio track to do these very specific syncs, but it takes too much time when I have to do the 2 overlay tracks separately. I also can't move one of the overlay tracks to another line, because then it won't let me move it back to an overlay line (I think it kills the video or does some other stupid thing?) All I want is for 2 overlay tracks to appear on the audio view, but no matter what I do... it only displays 4 tracks: video, 1 overlay, voice, and music.

Re: Crop/Sync Questions on X2
I've never attempted what you're doing in VS X2, so until now did not notice this. I agree that it is ridiculous for some tracks to disappear, especially when it contains a clip. Since you pointed this out, I checked VS X3, and it does not do the same. You can have clips in the overlay tracks, and open the Sound Mixer (which is what the Audio View was in X2), and all the overlay tracks are still visible. You might want to download the trial version of VS X3, and have a look.
