The video capture function for my Corel Video Studio12 program. When I hit the capture tab, nothing happens. Just two months ago my 17 year old son used the program without any problems. All the other functions are working (edit, effect, overlay, title, audio,).
I am not very tech savvy, so I hope there is a simple solution. I am able to capture video with Windows Movie Maker, but I prefer to use Corel as it is a much better program.
My operating system is Vista Home Premium, I am using a firewire connection to a Panasonic Camcorder, model PV-GS83. Any suggestions?

Hi
and welcome to the forums
Capturing via Firewire does not normally cause problems.
You should use the format DV this literally copies the footage to the pc.
It creates DV.Avi at 13Gb per hour.
When you say “nothing happens” do you mean just that, the program does not freeze, no error messages. You can access the rest of the program edits……….
There is a free capture program called WinDV, I would recommend trying this.
If its successful then we can assume it to be a VS issue and not the firewire connections/card etc.
In which case I would try re-install video studio X2

If you can capture with MovieMaker I would do just that. Then import the clips into VS for editing.
