Re: RealVideo support in VideoStudio Pro X3?...
Well, I went against my long standing rule to avoid RealPlayer at all costs. However some recent events that I want to monitor required using RealPlayer. So I installed the current version of the free RealPlayer 14.0.2.633, and after a while out of curiosity, opened VS X3 to see if it added the RM file format. Surprisingly it did not. Now the question would be, does VS see that there is a version of RP installed and then pick up the codec, or just where the heck does it come from.

Re: RealVideo support in VideoStudio Pro X3?...
For what it is worth, the version of Real Player on my computer -- which I again insist I would have only loaded as part of VS -- is version 10.0 build 6.0.12.857. And it is plaguing me with messages that it is out of date and needs to be updated...
But now, with Ron's information above, it is even more of mystery how it is integrated within my X3 but not his. I wonder if it is indeed because, like Quicktime, X3 needs an older version in order for it to work properly. In that case, I might just update it and see what happens in X3.

It seems that my surmise might be correct. I updated Real Player to the current version, and it has disappeared entirely from my X3. I have even rebooted, and it has still not returned.
Even more mysteriously, it is still there as an option in my X2 under 'Insert Video' and under Share > Create Video File > Custom.

Same here Ken, my VS X2 version does have the RM file option.

Re: RealVideo support in VideoStudio Pro X3?...
Since this was getting to be somewhat mysterious, I had to get to the bottom of it. So I checked the Utilities included with VS X2, there it is, RealPlayer 10-5 Gold. That has to be how VS X2 includes the RM format where, VS X3 does not.

Yet it does not explain how my X3 had it as well, yet yours apparently did not. As I understand it, you -- like me -- had X2 already installed, as well as X3.

Re: RealVideo support in VideoStudio Pro X3?...
On my Laptop, I just recently installed VS X2, after reformatting it. I already had VS X3 installed prior to installing X2. On my dekstop, I've had X2 installed for quite sometime. Checking it, I do not have the RM file option, so it must provide the option while installing the program, and on my desktop chose not to.

Hi
Sorry for the delay in replying after 13 Jan post.
Just to re-cap, I uninstalled all Corel/Ulead products and Real Player
I have now installed my video studio programs. Real player was not automatically installed with any program.
However………
X2 shows RM type files being available from Share Create Video Files-Custom.
It is not available using X3
I have just completed the Real Player installation, there does not appear to be any changes to Video Studio.
X2 shows RM
X3 does not.
It seems as though we all have the same options.
Ken I don’t quite understand why you saw the option in X3.
Earlier versions of VS did provide Real Player software but had to be installed via the Utilities install option.

Re: RealVideo support in VideoStudio Pro X3?...
I too remain mystified, but I trust that it is obvious from my photo above that it was indeed in X3, and not just X2. I had even contemplated doing a System Restore to a point before my updating of the Real Player just to see if X3 still had that ability. But I found that my most recent restore point was a week ago, and I have installed a couple of large pieces of software and various updates since then. So I decided I did not want to have to go through those installation processes again just to check on a piece of software (Real) which I never use and don't like!!
