RealVideo support in VideoStudio Pro X3?...
What does RealVideo support mean in VideoStudio Pro X3 in terms of file extension support? Does it support .rm or .rmvb? Or other extension?
I don't see RealVideo in the file extension drop down when importing video files...

Re: RealVideo support in VideoStudio Pro X3?...
I see RealVideo is supported in VideoStudio Pro X3 from Corel web site.
http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ ... bview=tab4
But I don't see RealVideo in PDF user manual.
ftp://ftp.corel.com/pub/documentation/m ... o%20X3.pdf
I'm confused. I really want RealVideo support including .rm and .rmvb. Can someone clarify if RealVideo is supported and which file extensions are supported? Thanks!

Welcome to the forums,
I'm not sure I can really clarify it. The last versions that really recognized the Real Media format (rm) was VS8 and MSP8. After reading your post, I checked all versions I currently have installed and those were the only ones that had Real Media (rm) listed in the drop-down menus for adding video, and also for Creating Video files.

I take it that you don't have X3 and are inquiring before you buy it? Why not download the trial version and see for yourself if RealVideo is, indeed, supported?

Re: RealVideo support in VideoStudio Pro X3?...
I already bought VideoStudio Pro X3. And I also installed Real Player. My OS is Windows 7 Ultimate x64.
I don't see any RealVideo related file extensions in the drop down box when importing video files. Anyone imported RealVideo files successfully in VideoStudio Pro X3? How did you do that? Thanks!

Re: RealVideo support in VideoStudio Pro X3?...
Hi
I have run a few checks…….
Video Studio X2
I see RM types shown under Custom
Video Studio X3
I do not see RM when viewing Custom
I created a RM using X2 using the library samples.
I was unable to play or edit the RM file using Video Studio.
I could play the file using Real Player, which is expected.
I understand this as--- X2 can render to RM types but not edit them.
It’s the same for Flash files
Video Studio can create FLV files, but you cannot edit these types.
I do not know why X3 does not support RM.

Re: RealVideo support in VideoStudio Pro X3?...
This is a bit strange, but when I open X3 and right click in the timeline and select Insert Video, the dropdown menu definitely displays Real Video as one of the many types you can import... See the photo below:
Moreover, when I select Share > Create Video File > Custom, Real Video is one of the outputs...
I might add that I never use Real Video, and don't particularly like having it on my computer (in its early days, it was very invasive). But I seem to recall it was installed, along with Quicktime, during the set-up of X3.

Re: RealVideo support in VideoStudio Pro X3?...
I don't get that option, I may have unchecked that option when I installed the program. I do recall it presenting some options, like Q.T. Player, Flash and I think Real Media was another. I don't have anything to do with RM, and have not for years. RM is just too intrusive, and once it's installed, it is a near impossible task to get rid of it.

Re: RealVideo support in VideoStudio Pro X3?...
I agree about the intrusiveness, and coincidentally, I am starting to get annoying Real pop-ups wanting me to upgrade the current version and buy the Pro version.
But that being said, if you don't have it on your system, I don't think VS will offer the option... Same as DivX... unless you have an older VS version which came with an old DivX codec embedded.

Ken, could you post what is your OS? Is it x86 or x64 version? I'm using Windows 7 x64...

Re: RealVideo support in VideoStudio Pro X3?...
If you look at my profile, you will see I have Win 7 32 bit... Not that I think that would make any difference in this case since X3 has not been written specifically for 64 bit.

Re: RealVideo support in VideoStudio Pro X3?...
I definitely don't have that RealVideo option as you posted. Does VideoStudio Pro X3 provide Real Player installation option during its own installation?
And I'm going to install a Windows 7 x86 to see if this problem will go away...

Re: RealVideo support in VideoStudio Pro X3?...
Since I wouldn't have installed Read under any other circumstances, I can only presume it was indeed installed as part of the X3 installation. At least, that is my recollection...

Hi
I don’t think Real Player is provided with X2 or X3
I viewed the installation files and real Player is not listed as part of utilities.
Unless its part of the main program installation, which I doubt.
It is however included in VS 10 utilities.
I am due a re-Install of X3, (Mov sound problems-Update 3????),
I will also uninstall Real Player before re-install of X3.
If real player returns then its part of the installation.
I may be a few days.
I have always used Real Player since time began, and is set as my default player.
I don’t seem to have a problem with the program being invasive.
I do however customise the preferences options, maybe that stops pop-ups.

I installed a fresh Windows 7 Ultimate x86. The problem still happens.
For those who can import RealVideo files in VideoStudio Pro X3, what's your Real Player version? And do you also install other codecs which support RealVideo? E.g. Real Alternative codec from free-codecs.com? Thanks!
