Windows 7 Installation problem

Post by shoz »

Hi all,
this my first post so I hope someone can help.

I have been using VideoStudio Pro x2 for a couple of years on my Acer laptop running Vista Home with no problems at all. I finally took the plunge and upgraded to Windows 7 after first checking for compatabilty issues. I was told there were none.

Installation was successful and I can use VideoStudio ok until I click on share - create disc - dvd. The following screen then seems incomplete as half of the 'next' button is missing. I can still click on it which takes me to the 'preview' screen but the only button visible there is the 'back' button. It won't allow me to proceed. The 'next' button isn't visible for some reason. How can I get it back?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Welcome to the forums,

Well for a short while there was a Win7 compatibility patch for VS X2. However even after installing the patch, people continued to have problems with getting VS X2 to run on Win7. So Corel pulled the Win7 patch, and advises people that it is not compatible with Win7. You're experiencing one of the problems, which is missing buttons. A workaround was to use keyboard shortcuts. The function is there, just no buttons.

Have you tried installing and running VS X2 under Vista or WinXP compatibility mode? You might also make sure you have the most current DirectX installed. It is not part of the normal Windows update routine. You must manually download and install it.

There is a huge thread on this subject in the sticky posts at the top of this forum: http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 98#p181998 It may give you some hints if you are patient enough to read through it...

Thanks very much for your replies.

I downloaded the latest DirectX without any difference.
Apparently there is a patch here - http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ ... 7710467#enbut when I click on 'English' it recommends that I download another patch before downloading this one. I have done this but it still won't let me download the patch.

I understand I can use the ctrl buttons but I would much prefer to use the proper ones. Both Microsoft and Corel says VideoStudio is compatable with 7 but it obviously isn't. Had I known I never would have upgraded.

I will look at the other replies that you mentioned too.

PS - I didn't realise I could install in Vista compatabilty mode. How do I do that?

Many thanks.
