Convert files - What to do with them?

I have just got DVD Moviefactory 3.5SE and I believe it ahs Videostudio 8. I just created my first DVD from a Digital Camcorder. During the Create disc phase is goes through a conversion step that takes about 2 hours and eats up about 8gb for a 1 hour movie. It seems to create a convert000.mpg file and a convert000.upd file. I now need to make several copies of this DVD.

Why do I have to run through this convert step again during the create disc?

Can't I just take this file and burn it to the DVD?

How do I do this so it doesn't take over 2 hours to create 1 DVD?

During the burn process you need to elecect to "Create DVD folders" OR "Create Disk Image". You can then use another program such as Nero or DVD Shrink (free) to burn from those. MF4 will also do it but I can't remember whether MF3 can.

yep, mf3 would let you burn to an iso image as well, then you can just re burn that image whenever you needed to.

I think i did this by not putting a disc in at the burning process and then it was pretty clear how to burn to an image only.

since putting on mf4, i cant remeber exactly though
