Putting two separate videos on the menu with own chapters

Post by happydog500 »

If I put a Video on a DVD, with the menus in VS11, I can name it, then I see the chapters. I can put two Videos on, with chapters. What I want to do is, put two videos, with separate Names, with their own chapters.

Can't explain very good, so I'll give an example; I have a documentary that aired in 2 parts. I want to put both of them on a DVD. I would like the menu to have the title of the documentary, with both videos as a choice.

DOCUMENTRY NAME

1. Name of part one - with it's own chapter points
2. Name of part two - with it's own chapter points

This way I can put the disc in, go right to part two without having to go through each chapter until I get to the second video.
I can't find how to do this in the little manual.

Thank you,
Chris

The Main Menu text title would be the Documentary Name. Then you have 2 video clips, called Titles in DVD parlance. For each Title you add your chapters, which you can have up to 99 Chapters for each Title. You can choose to have just a Main Menu and Chapter menus, a Main Menu without Chapter Menus.

So when you start your DVD it goes to the Main Menu, where you see "This is My Documentary" and then thumbnail images or video clips of Part-1 and Part-2. There will of course be the Play All button, generally like the play button on a DVD player. Pressing the Part-1 image would cause the Title to play. Depending on how you have your navigation setup, after completing Part-1, it would return to the Main Menu or continue on to Part-2.

Let me back up here, and clarify about Chapter Menus. If you have chapter menus for each title, when you select a Title, Part-1 for example, it can take you to the Chapter menu for Part-1, showing all the Chapters you have set.

Now with Chapters, they do not return to a menu once that chapter has completed playing, they will continue on to the end of the title.

Hi

1 / Render your project parts one and two to DVD Mpeg2
2 / Add the ( Mpeg2) part one (Title one)and part two (Title two) to the burner module.
The two titles will show on the main menu.
3 / with title one selected in the timeline choose to add/edit chapters.
Now it does matter how many you use, can you tell us?
4 / repeat for title two.

Go to the next window.

You have now created a main menu containing two titles, each title having chapters.
Edit the main title menu…………
Below the preview screen select the current displayed menu, choose one of your chapter pages. Edit each page.
Job done

Lower Left choose the options cogwheel, select the navigation controls. Back to menu

Once a chapter is selected, the disc will play to end of the title playing all chapters then return to menu, allowing you to choose again.
You cannot play a single chapter and return to menu.
So once play has started it will play to end of title.

If you wish this then you have to create titles, that means rendering your video into individual Mpeg2/titles.
