Ok guys,

First let me thank you for all your helps. I'm pleasantly surprised that I came here with, what I assume was a pretty basic question and no one jumped down my throat and everyone was willing to walk me through it. I sincerely appreciate it.

I have been tinkering with this software for the past couple of days and love it. Although I'm guessing some features are way above my head, but I'm okay with that. :)

I do have one more question though.

I am trying to put together a slide show if you will of available dogs in the rescue. Here is what I am trying to do.

Logo of recsue (Top most section of timeline) 3 -4 seconds
Some scrolling text briefly describing the rescue (Title Track) about 5 seconds
First state (Title track) about 3 seconds

Then I want to start listing about 2-3 photos of each dog with a title track of thier name over laying the first photo.

Then move on to the other threee states.

My problem is, I have the logo, the scrolling text, then the name of the first state, but when I add the first photo of a dog it puts it right next to the logo at the very start. So I have this picture of a dog with the scrolling text over it. I can't figure out how to get it to be after the name of the first state.

Does that make sense?

On the Main Video track, you need to have a place holder. By design all clips automatically slide, Ripple to the left to close up any gaps. So put something there to the right of your Logo. It can be a color clip, found in the Color LIbrary, or a photo. So anyway to take up that space drag a color clip to the timeline, drop it adjacent to your logo. Now grab the yellow handle on the right side, and drag it out to match the duration you need to fill. In this case until you want your photo to appear.

If you do use a color clip, try some other colors instead of just black. You can apply effects to the color clips. For instance the LIght Filter can be used so that it appears as if you have stage lights shining down. VS has what's called Instant Project, have a look at some of those templates. You might find one you can use. Once your back in the editor, all you need to do to replace the template images with your own, is to right-click on the image and select Replace>Image, or drag one from your Library, to the image you want to replace, hold down the Control key, then drop it on the image.

Play with the program, try thinking out of the box, and don't be worried about harming your source photos, because you're working with virtual clips. You can create some pretty good PSAs, that grab at the heart-strings of many.

Hi
From Preferences (F6) You can customise some of the settings, these may help.

Preferences – Edit tab
Set the default photo duration, try 9 seconds
Set the default Audio and Transition Effect to 3 seconds
You may wish to apply auto transition effect, default effect to crossfade.

Your best working with the top track first then the titels.

Start a new project
Add a colour clip
Add the logo
Add your images
Crossfade being automatically applied.
You can adjust the timings/durations if required.

Now create your titles
Using animation, try Fade-crossfade
Hit the two TT’s icon for a manual approach.
