Cant capture video from VCR using Movie Factory 7

Post by mhb »

I am unable to capture video from my VCR using Movie Factory 7. I have tried going through a video capture device ( Plextor PX-M402U) as well as a pass through my DV video cam (Sony DCR-HC32 connected to to the vcr by composite and to the PC by firewire). When I try to capture I get a Movie Factory error that says the file is corrupt and do I want to delete it. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

M

This is a problem that started back when Corel acquired Intervideo, whom had just acquired Ulead. Corel changed the capture plug-in to their own IVI, from the DSW (direct show for Windows). So anyway it has a problem with analog video. What I've been doing is using a free capture program called WInDV. It is for capturing via Firewire, and matters not that the actual source is analog or digital.

Just to expand a bit on Ron's post, since I am another who also uses WinDV out of self defence, the basic idea is that you use WinDV to capture, and then open the captured files in either MF 7 or Video Studio for editing then burning.WinDV as its name implies, only captures DV/AVI and has to be connected via Firewire between the original device and your computer...

Hello mhb,

Can you tell me the exact message that you are getting, if possible can you post a screenshot of the error? Also where you able to capture video before without any problem?
