Video Drivers and Project Creator

Post by wds937 »

As part of the unsuccessful effort to get the PhotoLooks plugin working (still not resolved, see http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=39887), I updated the driver for the display hardware on this computer. While it did not resolve the PhotoLooks problem, it completely trashed Project Creator. After launching Project Creator, the entire screen would be black, with a few garbled rectangles here and there.

I reverted to the previous driver, and Project Creator is again working. (Or, at least it is working as well as it ever did: I get an error dialog stating erroneously that the hardware or driver will not support DirectX 7.0 or higher (it will) and that I cannot play or edit video in Project Creator. This is of no consequence, as I don't use Project Creator for video.) After clicking OK, Project Creator comes up, displays, and runs correctly.

I thought I'd post this in case anyone else runs into a similar problem.

The installation in question is X3 Ultimate.

I also have all of 8 through X2 Ultimate installed on this computer. I have had no problems with any previous version, other than the occasional software bug.
