MOV Files Once Again
I was a member here a few years ago and then got busy with other projects. I just set up a new PC and loaded Pro X2 that I had bought a year ago. I also downloaded the patches. It appears that I can not place a MOV file into the timeline like I could with version 10Plus. 10 Plus did not work well but it did load. So, am I missing something here or do I need to convert all MOV files into something else.
I am sure this has been covered somewhere but I could not find it.
Dan

Re: MOV Files Once Again
As has long been the case, .mov files will only work in the version of Quicktime which comes with VS. So if you have in fact downloaded and installed the very latest version of Quicktime, that will be your problem. You would need to uninstall it and find and install the original VS version of Quicktime.
I know it's clunky, and Corel have been made aware of the problem for some time now, but have not yet come up with a solution... Mind you, a recent patch for X3 (though not X2) was supposed to have fixed some of the .mov problems...

Re: MOV Files Once Again
Welcome back!!
It's not a generic MOV file problem. I have some MOV files, however they use the MJPEG codec. I can insert them into VS X2. Are your MOV files the MPEG-4, using the h.264 codec? Most of the MOV file problems concern the version of QuickTime Player you have installed. You probably have the most current version installed, if so try rolling it back to the version supplied with VS X2. Corel is generally about a version or 2 behind on Q.T. players.
Ken beat me to it..

Re: MOV Files Once Again
Thanks Gentlemen, I was afraid that may be the case. It's going to take me awhile to get back into this. Probably forgot everything.
Thanks,
Dan

Hello railroadguy,
This is for another version but I think you can get an idea on what is the problem.

Re: MOV Files Once Again
In my case there is no .mov file extension in the drop down. That's what threw me the first time I tried it.
Thanks,
Dan

Re: MOV Files Once Again
Hi
And which came first the chicken or the egg.
Quicktime is not just for Video Studio and may well have been installed prior to Video Studio
It is a well known fact that Quicktime versions cause problems with video studio.
Installing an earlier version has cured problems for some users.
Corel were providing a fix in a download of Quicktime, an earlier version than that provided by X3 install. I’ve searched for this in the Knowledgebase without success.
I do recommend you install an earlier version, as Ken’s first reply.

Re: MOV Files Once Again
I believe that the 7.6 version is the latest that is supported by Corel VSX2 and VSX3.
Below is the Corel KB on it with a download link to the supported version.
