Jazz soundtrack wont go away!?

Post by conanthelibrarian »

Just started using this software and everyhting seemed nice and easy until I popped out my freshly burned DVD and put it in the PS3.

To my suprise, there was a Jazz/Kenny G soundtrack over all of it. I can't hear anything in my movie except this Jazz music. I did not want a soundtrack, just the sound that is in the movie files. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for the help everyone.

I just taped myself doing some fitness routines and just want the sound that is on the original files, no soundtrack at all. Thanks.

Welcome to the forums,

How did it get there? VS does not come as having that soundtrack as a default for all video projects. What I'm getting at, is what editing did you do? Did you just drop clips in the editor, make some cuts, then render to a new video file? Did you use the Instant Project? The music could have been added there. What DVD authoring program did you use, DVD Factory 2010 or DVD MovieFactory 7SE? It could have been added as part of a theme in anyone of those.

To correct it, you will need to load your project up and track down the guilty party. Once you've found it, just delete it. If somehow it was added in VS's editor, all you need to do is look at the music/audio tracks.

I will also recommend a practice that several of us use, burn to your hard drive (Create DVD Folders), before burning a disc. That way you can check everything out using your software media player of choice, before committing it to disc.

They are .mod files (if that helps).

I had them stored in a file folder in my user profile. they were downloaded directly from my JVC camcorder.

I selected them and then dragged them to bottom of screen where they all showed up.

Clicked on "Create" then on make movie.

I selected a simple layout with mo titles or anything fancy.

When I hit play, the video plays fine and I can hear the sound from the video (there is dance music that I am dancing too in the video). Everything is great.

Select "Output" at bottom of screen and then burn to dvd.

Then the screen comes up to burn it and while playing the video part of the movie, there is elevator music playing and no sound from my video file.

I have not added any elevator music. I don't have any on my computer. It must be a problem with Corel. I did not add any soundtracks.

Thanks for the help again everyone.

Ok, so your not using VS X3, which is the Advanced Edit, you're using VS 2010 (Express Edit), totally different (and worthless) program. Along the bottom left you will see 5 tabs. They are Media, Styles, Titles, Soundtrack, and Voice-over. Click on the Soundtrack tab, and you should see your offending music clip. Mouse over the clip and there will be an X in the lower right of it, click it. It should now be gone. Now you can click on output and not be put-out by the results.... ;)

Thanks for the help so far. Yes I have the "worthless" studio express. If it is so bad,can it be upgraded?

I went to the tab and there is no music clip listed there. I have even put in another music clip from itunes just to see if it would change, but I still get the elevator music.

Appriciate any furthur help.

If the clip is not there, then it must have been added in the burn phase. However to better understand, and to get the answers faster, you need to provide us with the product(s) you're using, including version if applicable. For example VS X3, or VS 10+, VS Express or 2010, DVD Factory 2010, DVD MovieFactory 7SE, DVD MovieFactory 7 Pro. These are all very different programs, where features are found, how they can be added, ect., can be really different in each of them.

So while I do some more research (firing up a couple of these programs), here's some homework for ya'..

Are you using VS Express 2010 through VS Pro X3 ? Are you using it as part of Digital Studio 2010?

Can it be upgraded? If the answer to the 2nd question above,is yes, probably not. Qualifying programs must be of the same type, ie; you must have an earlier version of VS to qualify for an upgrade to the current version.

I learned some more.

I bought video studio express 2010 from staples. Says on box compatible with windows 7. I don't have the pro x3.

WHen I selected a different title template, then went to create movie, there was a soundtrack pre-added. I clicked to have it removede and it was. I even went to titles and then back to soundtrack tab to scheck and it was still gone.

But when I selected output and it came up to the final screen to burn, the music was back. This seems to be the issue.

I even uninstalled and re-installed it to see if that would help, but no dice.

In your Output screen do you first, see the option of Advanced Edit ? If you do, than you must have VS Pro X3. If not, you have Digital Studio or just VS 2010. If you have the latter, then first use the option of File. This will create a new video file, that will not have that elevator background music. Once you have the new video file created, you then need to burn it to disc or folder. I strongly recommend to burn it to a folder first, saves on discs.

Now I don't know what program you have, but I'm guessing you might have Corel Digital Studio 2010, which includes DVD Factory 2010. If you do, once you have created your video file above, then launch DVD Factory 2010, and use your newly created video file. Keep in mind that these are template based programs, and offer very little control over certain aspects of the production. What you need to watch for is the audio track that may be added. It is common to have a music track for the background on the menus, however not for the entire duration of a video production. Hopefully using this method will alleviate this annoying sound for you.

It appears that using your workflow, that elevator music is added, and there's no way to remove it, I tried using the option of customizing the menu in DVD Factory 2010, but it would not allow me to remove the music, it said it was in use.. which is B.S., because I removed it in VS 2010.

Are you seeing now why we repeatedly say, that these programs are terrible, awful, and just downright stink on ice? In VS X3 you could have had your DVD produced how you specifically wanted it, a long time ago. Edited... Just was able to read your reply just before pressing submit on this one. Well, I can tell you Staples is not going to take an open software program package back. They might exchange it for the same thing, but why would someone just want newer junk.

Try my workflow of creating the video file to see if that corrects this for you.

Hello conanthelibrarian,

You can download and install the free DVD Movie Factory 7 SE, which is better than the DVD Movie Factory Express 2010.

To get the DVD MovieFactory 7 SE, please follow the steps below.
1. Start VideoStudio Pro X3 and choose the Advanced Edit mode.
2. In the top right-hand corner of the screen, click on the Help and Product Information icon. It looks like an arrow in a circle.
3. A window will appear. Click on the icon that looks like a gear wheel and choose the option "Check for Updates".
4. Up to 4 updates may be found. Choose to install all the updates and then close VideoStudio Pro X3.
5. Once the updates have been installed, start VideoStudio Pro X3.

Or just download all updates from http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ ... 0460544373

Abiel -- much of Ron's exchange above estasblished that Conan does NOT have Video Studio Pro X3, so your suggested solution has no relevance... Moreover, Conan himself says that he bought "video studio express 2010", and I don't think that qualifies for the MF 7 SE download either...
