Can't import MP4 FlipHD files to VideoStudio Pro X3
I can't import my Flip HD mp4 files to VideoSudio Pro X3. I've tried downloading the latest version of Quicktime, changing the file extensions to .mov, and getting the latest updates from Corel. It's so frustrating. Any ideas? I'm using windows 7. thanks.

Welcome to the forums!
In fact, upgrading to the latest version of Quicktime will have created a problem for you in any case. The fact of the matter is that VS does not like the latest versions of Quicktime, and you have to use the version that came with VS...
But that begs the question of why you would be using Quicktime in the first place... How exactly are you trying to import your files? Normally with a camera like that which uses an SD card, you just use Windows to copy to files on the card to your computer hard disk, and then open VS, right click in the timeline and choose "Insert Video Clip", then navigate to where your video is stored. That should also work with the SD card, but sometimes it does not.
Next, did any software come with the Flip? If so, did you install it? That would normally install any special codec that the Flip might use...

I installed the latest Quicktime because that was the answer to this problem given on many forums, as was the advice to rename the files with a mov extension. Somehow it was believed that QT would read the codex somehow. I really need to get this figured out. Should I uninstall Quicktime? Thanks.

Re: Can't import MP4 FlipHD files to VideoStudio Pro X3
Something along the line of file extensions and how the recorded format is recognized or not.
I recently purchased a Canon FS300 camcorder. It records standard-definition to a SD memory card. Nice little camcorder. The SD video files appear as *.MOD files on the memory card. There's also a data file *.MOI, which contains the date/time information. Anyway I know that VS does recognize the MOD files and will accept them. Ok more to the point here..
I finally gave in and installed the software that came with the camcorder. Using it to copy the files to my computer, it also automatically renames the extension from MOD to MPG. So maybe the software that came with the Flip needs to be used to transfer (copy) the clips to your PC.

This should be the correct Quicktime version.
