VideoStudio Pro X3 included with laptop

Post by a4hastings »

I recently purchased an HP dv7 laptop which included VideoStudio Pro X3 pre-installed, along with PaintShop Photo Pro X3. However, VideoStudio didn't come with any burning module (not DVD Factory Pro or DVD MovieFactory 7 SE, which is now supposed to be included with the software). There isn't even an "Express" mode available on the startup screen, only Advanced Edit and DV-to-DVD Wizard. In the Corel Guide, there isn't a Get More or Do More tab, only Home, Learn, and Messages.

This isn't a trial version, it is software included with the laptop. I read in an announcement on this board (http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=37432) that you have to wait 3 days before these things might show up, but it has been around that time since I have registered. Is there a way that I can acquire these things? Or is it a problem since the software was pre-loaded on the laptop? Thanks!

Hi

Welcome to the forums
Others on the forum may know about the version you have.

There is usually a small round icon similar to a clock, top right.
Selecting this opens a new window.
A similar cogwheel icon shows a small dropdown box, "check for updates".

DVD Movie Factory 7SE is available as a download for X3 owners, I see no reason why it shouldn’t be available for you.

I'm curious if you purchased the laptop new or used? If new, than Corel must now be marketing to computer vendors, and it would seem that the version of VS included may be another type of SE (Special Edition). This one possibly not having a DVD authoring program included. If used, that opens up the possibility of the software not being of much good to you, if the previous owner registered the software with Corel.

Hello a4hastings,

I've been asking around for an OEM version of VS X3 and it appears that there is an OEM version of VideoStudio X3 just for HP Envy Laptops but so far no information, if the DVD Movie Factory 7 SE can be downloaded used with this version of VideoStudio X3, but just in case you can try downloading the DVD Movie Factory 7 SE by following these steps:
1. Start VideoStudio Pro X3 and choose the Advanced Edit mode.
2. In the top right-hand corner of the screen, click on the Help and Product Information icon. It looks like an arrow in a circle.
3. A window will appear. Click on the icon that looks like a gear wheel and choose the option "Check for Updates".
4. Up to 4 updates may be found. Choose to install all the updates and then close VideoStudio Pro X3.
5. Once the updates have been installed, start VideoStudio Pro X3.

Or try downloading all the updates by visiting: http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ ... 0460544373, I'll try to update this post as soon as I got an update about this issue. I would also appreciate if you post any outcome that you will get, so that can also report that to my Manager.

Thanks for the replies!

Ron, I purchased the laptop new, so VideoStudio was supplied by HP. I guess you could be right about it being a SE version, but it wasn't mentioned in the name, which appeared as Corel VideoStudio Pro X3 on the list of included software.

Trevor and Abiel, I checked for updates on the first day I used it, and I believe it did install the 3 that are available on the link you posted. Right now there are no new updates available.
