Error when adding video in MovieFactory2.0

Post by dancelikeacrazyboy »

I'm new to VCD/DVD making and having a LOAD of trouble getting any software to work. I am using MovieFactory 2.0 and am attempting to import an AVI file. I downloaded the file from eDonkey2000. According to AVICodec, the file is encoded using "XVID Mpeg-4" (but I'm not even entirely sure what that means!)

I want to convert the file to a VCD/DVD to play in DVD player. I've converted files before using TMPGEnc but TMPGEnc gives an error message too with this AVI file.

When attempting to import the file using MovieFactory 2.0, I receive the error message "<FILE NAME> is not accessible".

Please can someone help me out here. I'm pretty computer savvy but this is driving me crazy. I'm dancelikeacrazyboy @ hotmail.com on msn.

Thanks.

XVID and DIVX .avi's can be problematic (as you are seeing).

try going to videohelp.com, and check their tools section -- they have some tools specific for handling those formats...

probably if you go to that site and use one of their tools -- you can convert it to a format that can be used in MovieFactory...
