VideoStudio Pro X3 default Library location

Post by jmotta61 »

I would like to change the default drive path location of the items that are placed into the Library panel on the edit window. I have a second hard drive and would like the items from the Library panel edit window to default to a drive path location on the second drive. I know I can export a library but I want the main Library panel work screen to default directly to a drive path location on the second hard drive. Can someone respond with the step(s) to accomplish this request.

Welcome to the forums, :)

The thumbnails in the Libraries are just links to their actual location on your system. For example all the video clips provided by Corel in the Video Library are located on a Win XP machine: C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Pro X3\Samples\Video. Anytime you import clips into one of the libraries, they do not get moved. VS just creates a thumbnail link to them.

Thank you very much for your timely response. I am still missing something. Once I capture a DV clip from my camcorder, the clip (thumbnail) does appear in the selected library workspace window. I can than disconnect my camcorder. Once I place the clip on the video time line I can play the entire clip back. How can I see where the thumbnail is point to find the full clip that is being played back? Again thank you so much for your attention and patients with this inquiry.

Hi

The clips are thumbnails, Virtual clips linked to the main file on the hard drive.
Right click any clip and select properties.
The file name indicates the save location on the hard drive.

If you move, delete or rename the main file using windows explorer then VS will loose the link and request a re-link.

Also when you're preparing to capture with VS X3, there is an input box for you to specify where you want the video captured saved. What Corel needs to do is take this one step further, allow us to specify a name for our capture video clips, instead of the ridiculous date format they use. I normally don't use VS to capture, I use a free third party capture program called WinDV.
