Videostudio X3 + GTX460 = error

Post by Matrix_RELISE »

Greetings to all! I work in computer shop, the client has returned to me GTX460, he tries it with vidiostudio x3. Using GTX480 all was OK, but when he use GTX460 we have an error at start of convertation MTS-> Mpeg4 HD. The problem was solved by with windows XP sp3 mode. I think it works slowly. I install update sp2 for vidiostudio x3, it is haven't effect. What it can be? And can my client uses 2xGTX460 for convertation by mpeg4 HD?

Thanx.
P.S: Sorry for bad english

Are somebody know what it can be or how to fix that?

No, probably not. If the capture card is up to date, then I would say there must be a conflict, and it just is not compatible with VS X3. Look at the version number for VS X3. If it is 13.6.2.69, that might be the problem. Recently people have been posting, that they are having problems after installing the latest patch. If so try uninstalling VS X3, then reinstalling it. After reinstalling, without doing any updates to the program, try it and see if it works. If so proceed to install the first update, again try the program to see if the problem occurs. IF NOT, try the 2nd update. However if it works here, I would not install service pack# 3.

I can't encode many things with hardware acceleration on using my GTX 460. Seems others have similar issues. I think there is a problem with using this new architecture with X3. If you turn off hardware acceleration in the X3 settings, it will probably work. I just don't think you get the full encoding speed capability.

Hm... thanx for reply.

Maybe u or somebody can say, what are signs of CUDA cores are working? I see, main core are working now at 10%. Can I make decision about properly working?

And what is SP3? VideoStudio Pro X3 SmartSound Performance Update does? I'm not use that, keep trying now, thanx!

Now I have some tests.

X3
1) Without hardware accel = basic speed
2) 465 + hardware accel + windows XP sp3 mode = little more speed, 1% use GPU.
3) without accel + without XP mode + yes/now accel mpeg4 not HD = speed is very same and GPU use 1%

X2

1) mpeg4 640*480 = 5% GPU stable.

I don't now how to disable accel of GPU, But it is very great chance, it work properly!
And I don't know how use mpeg4 HD at X2 studio.

Some progress I have, thats good, my customer not be so angry for me =)

Tomorrow I make that tests with 480. And maybe 570.

To start with I'm not sure how to test or determine how or if CUDA is actually being used. It seems that you may have figured that out. :) I'm just guessing that like you described, the CPU shows a low percentage of usage.

What is SP3? It is a Service Pack, to fix issues with the program. They are number sequentially. There have been some issues with Service Pack 3, causing problems. Some are having to uninstall VS X3, then reinstall it, and only apply Service Packs 1 and 2. SmartSound QuickTracks 5, is what VS X3 uses for it's automated music. SmartSound is a separate entity from Corel, so they will, just like any other developer, issue updates and fixes for their software. You could check SmartSound's Website for more information about their performance update.

OK, I am simple haven't found service pack 3, but saw only service pack 2.

Now I have make tests with 465/480/220 and I see that 13.6.2.69 has problems with CUDA acceleration.

But now I really know, that proxi-files accelerates the process =)

With regards.
Thanks for a help!

The website shows it to be Service Pack 2, however if you click on the download button, and pay attention to the file name, you will see that it is in reality Service Pack 3

Now I have make tests with 465/480/220 and I see that 13.6.2.69 has problems with CUDA acceleration.
Version 13.6.2.69, is the version that would have Service Pack 3 installed. So if that is your version number, you may have problems. If so you will need to uninstall and reinstall VS. Then do not install service pack 3.

But now I really know, that proxi-files accelerates the process =)
No, it does not accelerate processing or rendering video. Proxy files, are smaller files created so that you can do your editing of the larger, more resource demanding hi-definition videos. Once finished with your editing, and you go to Create Video File, all your edits are applied to your original hi-def video.
