So, I finally gave up the hunt for software providing the kind of photo album I want. It doesn't seem to exist. As a test yesterday I burned a VCD 2.0. Other than having to find a player for it, it worked okay. That was using Philips CDs.
Today I picked up some DVD-R (memorex 16x) because I wanted to include more on the disc.
I've burned 4 or 5 coasters now and frankly it's getting old.
The first 3 or 4 were buffer under-run errors. I started googling and found there was a firmware update for my drive. I applied it and tried the burn again and it just failed with a "generic error"
my drive is a TSST Corp SH-S223C.
Firmware is absolute latest. Driver is Microsoft's provided. Samsung doesn't provide any others.
Now, I popped the DVD back in, at least this time, the DVD is readable. The menu comes up and things seem to be okay, but I'd rather not have it kicking this error out. I'm planning to send these DVDs to my technologically impaired grand parents back home, so I'd prefer to have them burn without issue so I can feel a little more confident in them. Any logs I can use to figure out what this new "generic error" is?

Hello Crossmr,
Can you tell me what version of DVD Movie Factory are you using on Windows 7? If you are using an old version of DVD Movie Factory on your Windows 7 that may very well be the problem since any old version of DVD Movie Factory is not compatible with Windows 7. If you are using DVD Movie Factory Pro 7, then you may want to try downloading all the updates from this link: http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ ... 5525182943

Re: "Generic Error" on burning
This is the trial version of movie factory. I downloaded it only a couple days ago. It should be the absolute latest version.
7.000.398.0 TBYB
[edit] I can't install these patches on the trial version.
Can't say I'll be too inclined to actually purchase this if it's burning with an error every time.
