Can you confirm that you are talking about the 6 tabs in the bar across the top left of the Edit Room screen, as in the image below?

If so, have you tried closing and re-opening MF 7 or rebooting your computer?

It is pretty obviously not a Windows 7 things since I too have Windows 7 and have no trouble with that bar. It could be an indication that the program needs reinstalling...

Hello snowstorm,

If not then you may want to post a screen shot of the screen that you see, so that we'll have an idea what screen are you referring.

Good evening many thanks for these quick replies
Infortunatly I cannot include screen shot at this time.

I can however confirm to Ken that I am not referring to the 6 tabs as shown in the screen shot..
I am refering to the task bars in the bottom of the Edit Room screen..

I`ve seen these task bars in the Help Module ;when you display Edit Room

The first screen that appears (in the help module)bear the title=Using Edit Room /Edit Slideshow

you see there the actual screen shot of the Edit Room showing the 6 task bars

also please notice in the second paragraph of the Edit Room Screen (help module)talks about the feature of these 6 task bars

Many thanks again

After looking up the Help and in the User Guide, the 6 Tasks are in fact what Ken's screenshot is pointing out. They are across the top, not the bottom. Those that are pointed out in my screenshot are from Left to Right: Import Media, Delete Clip, Split Clip, Clone Selected Clips, Undo Split Video, and Redo Split Video. The icons on the right side are, from Left to Right: Select Chapter to include in video, Use Scene Change Info to add Chapters, Video Fade-in, and Video Fade-out.

:o
Thanks again for your patience
The screen shot provided by Ron (editroom_lowertbars.jpg)is the one in question .
I am actually talking about the dark blue portion underknee the red arrows designed by , It certainly looks like a timeline to me, you see there a clip by the name of 'mov001.mpg'
If I am to refer to the help module screen shot; I should be able to line up vertically the following 6 Task tabs on the timeline:
1) Theme
2)Video
3)Text
4)music
5)Voice
6)Effect
Per example If ,using the Import Media tab,I successfully import audio yet the audio track(bar) is not shown on the timeline and yet the audio is part of the clip that I am editing....
Hopefully this time I am clear in my explanation
Thanks again

I'm not sure if you changed from Storyboard view to Time-line view. You need to press the icon/button to the upper-left to change to time-line view. Then all the tracks should be visible.

When you're replying to a post, you should see below the text-box area 2-tabs, Options & Upload attachment. Click the upload attachment, then you should see a button to click to browse your system for the attachment. Also try to keep your screenshots to a maximum of 800pxs on it's largest side. Very large screenshots will "break" the forum's layout, meaning that to read any thread in a topic where a large screenshot is posted, you need to scroll horizontally. People don't like having to scroll sideways just to read. :)

Sorry to say this, but that function is not available in the 7SE version. I finally broke down, uninstalled my Pro version, and installed the 7SE version, temporarily. It is now uninstalled. However I did discover that button is not functional in the SE version. Why? I don't have a clue, it is something that definitely should be. It has nothing to do with the other applications that are available in the Pro version. I guess by stripping that out too, they wanted to make it more like the burn modules of previous versions of VS.

I guess I should have done this sooner, but I'm getting ready to reinstall Vista on my Laptop, so thought I would try this first..

Hello snowstorm,

If the SWITCH TO TIMELINE icon is not working, this can be caused be a missing or damaged DirectX component. At this point, it would be recommended to update your Microsoft DirectX by clicking here and then search for the latest DirectX redistributable version.

Abiel -- my DirectX is totally up to date, yet that button in MF 7 SE is unclickable, as snowstorm and RonP suggest. Moreover, as RonP noted, the button *is* clickable in MF 7 Pro, which suggests that it has been crippled in the SE version. I have just checked in my two set-ups on different computers, with SE on one and Pro on the other, and I can confirm Ron's findings.
