Hi again,
I wonder if anyone is using PSP X3 to manipulate their still graphics for video productions in Sony Vegas? I am trying to create an alpha channel and import it into Vegas in order to animate the graphic in that program.
The effect I am particularly interested in is where one cuts out an object or person from the original photo, fills in the section removed with the cloning tool and then re-introduces the object/person animating it over the original background.
I have no problem creating the background and foreground plates, however I cannot import the alpha channel along with the foreground cutout. I believe that photoshop can do this...but can PSP?
Any solutions or workarounds would be greatly appreciated.
(Perhaps it's just the way I'm trying to save the alpha channel...but I think that it might be because Vegas doesn't read the PSP file.)
Many thanks to this excellent forum. You have been a fantastic help!
Cheers for now...

Re: PSP alpha channels and Sony Vegas
Are you saving the alpha channel to the image? Sorry the question is a bit vague but I'm curious about your method. When you have the selection of the cut-out made do you go to the selections menu and select -Selections->Load/Save Selection->Save Selection To Alpha Channel?
I only ask because if you do that then you can save the file format as a PSD (Photoshop Document) and the alpha Channel will be included. But you have to specifically save the selection into the alpha channel.
Otherwise you'll just have to load the layers individually and save out the cutout as a PNG with transparency turned on.
